Two stand out for us...Barclay Prime in Philadelphia, PA - simply because they offer bacon as an appetizer, and the Prime Rib in Washington, DC. Their Prime Rib is sublime.

Not only do they have an awesome steak, but you can sit in the bar and have a steak sandwich or a steak burger for $10. This is great if you're in a rush but want to experience Bern's. Don't look for it on the menus, it's not there...you have to ask for it.

Did you end up making it to Berns?

No one is asking about the prices: but both of those --especially Peter Lugar are on expensive side. Cabana Las Lilas in BA has the reputation that it is for tourist.
Bern's is a special experience and every steak lover should try it. Also wine lovers--their wine list is amazing !

Been to Peter Lugar, and Cabana Las Lilas in Buenos Aires, both were very very good.

The best is Bern's in Tampa.. they cut to order, so you can ask for thickness, and even 'area'.. i.e. Rib eye with the cap attached, 2 inch thick..
grilled to perfection and their wine list is legendary.

I was really disappointed by Cabana las Lilas, although I wasn't that impressed by Argentinian steaks in general. The cuts were a bit tough for me.

If one is in southern Tuscany, I Due Cippi da Michele in Saturnia. The owner tales great pride in his bistecca florentina. Certified organic Chianina beef that he proudly displays at the entrance, cuts and cooks himself.

Not cheap at EUR 75 / Kg (Oct 2012) but lots of locals go there to eat it (and order kilos of the stuff).

My favorite is to dine in the bar at the Chicago Chop House.

The steak sandwich at Capital Grill is sublime. Ribeye, onions and havarti. crispy bread to soak up the juices.

La pulperia in Montevideo. The perfect neighborhood steakhouse and the one I compare everyone else to. It's right down the street from the Punta Carretas mall.

I had a surprisingly enjoyable 14 oz filet at Charley's in Celebration FL (next to Disney) this week. Not in the class of Berns by any stretch, but reasonable quality for the price.

My co-workers each had the 22 oz bone-in strip, and both also thoroughly enjoyed them.

I'm not a big fan of places with only steaks the size of your head, and one lowly filet option. I much prefer to have some steaks in the 12-16 ounce range.

That is about the size of your head, isn't it? ;)

This is one of those places that used to be absolutely sublime and in my opinion untouchable, but then, as word got out and it became famous, the standards dropped and the prices rose steeply, especially the Malbec prices.

El Calden, Ceviche and Grappa Cantina were the best when i was last there couple of years ago.

You do know it's illegal to import Kobe beef in the U.S.. Real Kobe beef does not exist in the states and if a restaurant has it on the menu, it's a lie. They are scamming you.

Charley's is one of my favorite steak places in the country. I put it on par with
Sparks and Lugers. I think its the wood they cook their steaks on.
