Had a really nice 14oz NY at CUT in the Palazzo Las Vegas -- truly enjoyed the meal and service there. It is a close call between CUT and Charlie Palmer Steak for me in LAS.

I thought you once recommended this place. When I ate there in 2005, I thoroughly enjoyed it, as well as the other places where I ate steak in Argentina and Uruguay.
FWIW, I believe La Mosca used to be the place to go for steaks in Bs As 20 years ago. |

So where does one go for good steak in Bs As? I wasn't going to go back to Las Lilas as I had a mediocre experience after a pretty good meal the night before. Inconsistency is probably Las Lilas's failing (from that sample of 2). No atypical of restaurants that have strayed from their roots.

Best Steakhouses
I do not remember the names of the two places I ate in Buenos Aries within the past few years, but one of the best NY strip steaks I even had was from a place in Kansas City, Missouri called the "Golden Ox". I recall the location of the restaurant was very close to the KC stockyards. Another place for great beef is Gene & Georgetti's in Chicago.

Samsclub, $7.99 / lbs. One of the best meats I've ever had.

My top three:
1. Metropolitan Grill in Seattle, WA 2. Mitchell's Steakhouse in downtown Columbus, OH 3. The Capital Grill in Boston, MA Despite growing up in Illinois, I've never been to a steakhouse in Chicago. I'll have to remedy that soon with some of the suggestions from this thread. I recently visited both Sparks and Luger's in New York and came away disappointed. The service and ambiance at Sparks was top notch, but I found the food to be average. At Luger's, the steak was pretty good, but everything else was subpar. Maybe I'm just unlucky. |

I find DelFrisco's to be hit or miss, ive had some of the best steak Ive ever eaten there as well as some very average. Sparks OTOH has never disappointed me.
Lugers is a great steakhouse but only accepting cash just rubs me the wrong way. I agree with some of the others about Shulas being absolutely top notch. I also really like Charlies in Orlando. |
Seems that Flemings is now serving asmaller cut of a lower quality meat. Is this a general trend?

Hawksmoor in London. Really excellent meat with great provence (the best butchers in town, the Ginger Pig) and superb cocktails too.

i see some talk of kobe/wagyu here and thought I'd mention another great source:
http://www.yama-beef.com/home.htm This is also in Texas. They have an impressive operation. |

There are tons of places. My favorite is El Establo.

When my Dad is in town we go to Mastro's in Scottsdale. I know they're in California too but I can't speak to those places. I do know that the Scottsdale one does great meat, onion rings, appitizers and the bar mixes a good drink.

Cattlemans restaurant in Fort Worth, particularly the Rose of Texas filet steak which was the best I' ve had outside Argentina. There they're nearly all perfect. Years ago we realised that American steak was so much better than that available in UK and went on holiday to Texas to eat steak. While there we were told that Texans went to Argebntina when they wanted to eat decent meat so we went there. It's true.
