Just visited Gordon Ramsey at the Conrad in Tokyo, couple of weeks ago.

Food was good, service is good and price wasn't crazy out of order. Would I go again? Hmmm, not sure.

I find service to be always good at any restaurant in Japan. So to me, the service at a Michelin star restaurant is no better no worse than a non star restaurant.

Was the food imaginative? Actually yes it was. As a Canadian, I have eaten lots of wild venison. This venison was really tender and not gamey at all. I was impressed.

Both my wife and I enjoyed how they did the wine paring. Really enhanced the experience.

I don't think anyone can really argue that the Michelin Guide isn't a set of great restaurants, and that the restaurants earning 3* are pretty phenomental.

Sure, it's not an objective rating of the world's best restaurants, but that would be impossible to do. There are also bound to be great restaurants missed out as well as some restaurants which just don't deliver on visits.

Many of the best meals I've had have been at 3* places (Joel Robuchon Ebisu in Tokyo, Martin Berasetegui in San Sebastian, the Fat Duck in Bray), and am really looking forward to Joel Robuchon's 3* restaurant in Vegas on Friday provided I don't have any delays on my flights there!

We weren't particularly thrilled with our Daniel experience.

Michelin Restaurants in the US

For some reason I am having the hardest time finding a complete list of Michelin Starred restaurants in the US. I can find plenty if I make it specific, i.e. NYC michelin, or Bay Area michelin. However, I want to see the restaurants listed by city. Anyone happen to have a list?

These are the three star places. I wonder if there are single lists showing the one and two star places?

I've only been to one place on the three star list and it was a bit of a disaster. I actually think the one star places tend to offer the best value to creativity ratio.

Be careful with Las Vegas. The Michelin is a few years old

It's fun to see this old post.

My flight was delayed.

Yes I was wondering the same, lists with 1 star, 2, and 3.

It would be too long.

NYC alone has around 60 stars.

I've also had better meals at 1 and 2* than the 3* places.

I was just going to write the same thing. Went to a 3-star a couple of weeks ago that was nothing special, and a 1-star the week before that was really spectacular. Have a reservation at Osteria Francescana in a couple of weeks (3rd on the Pellegrino top 100) but it looks like it's been getting really flamed recently in online reviews. Definitely wondering how that's going to turn out.

I've had varying experiences at 1/2/3* places. It really depends on the place, and sometimes what they're serving that day. For some of the 3* places, sometimes they're stuck with serving a few "classics" that they just cannot take off the menu. But when they are allowed to pull out all the stops, they can do absolutely amazing things.
