Is it really their aim to offer same level? I doubt it....

In the last months been to Restaurant Frantzén (Stockholm) and La Villa in the Sky (Brussels). Both have two stars and could not be further apart. Thought La Villa was a rip-off, bad service and food not particularly high standards. The chef did not check the dishes going out. Restaurant Frantzén probably one of the best meals I've had in my life - how it doesn't have three stars I do not understand (same way that La Villa should maybe be a 1-star, if that).

That is irritating. I hate it when two-stars go through the motions. Happened to me once or twice in recent years.

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal London

Just back from a lunch at Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.

The room in the Mandarin Oriental is fine, you have a Hyde Park view (more a view over a Meadow). The interior is modern.

At Lunch the offer the full menu and a 3 course Prix fix menu at 40 GBP. I took the Prix fix.

Bread (no further Amuse Bouche)

First course: Tomato Salamagrundy

Main course: Cured Salmon

Dessert: Strawberry Crust

Post Dessert (some kind of chocolate Pudding)

I had high expectations and still like the concept of traditional dishes. All dishes were good, but I missed the totally wow-factor. Considering it was in the top-10 of San Pellegrino list I know at more than 10 better restaurants;). I also don´t really understand the 2 star rating, in my eyes 1 star would be adequate (same with Hand and Flowers). Neverless a nice lunch.

Yes - thanks for posting. I had the slow cooked pork belly when I was there, but again, nothing earth shattering to justify such a high ranking in the top 100.

That´s the point! Good food and nice setting, but nothing that justifies the hype....

World’s Cheapest Michelin-Starred Meal

Not sure if this has been mentioned but just last month a street hawker was given one Michelin star!! This makes it a new cheapest Michelin-starred meal.

Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle

If you haven't heard about this yet, the video is worth a watch.

Had dinner at Meadowood a few weekends ago. Very disappointed in the lack of service and the taste of the food. Every thing was drastically underseasoned to the point of no taste at all. The staff all seemed very young and inexperienced. Hard to believe this place earned three Michelin stars. :td:

What time did you eat?

We've been here once, and our reservation was for 9pm. It felt like the A-team had gone home for the night - underseasoned was the least problem we had with the food!

I live in Singapore and honestly, I find it good but not great. Used to be better years back.

I had lunch at Dinner 2 years back and it was much better than EMP or Per Se imho. I particularly liked their tipsy toast and meat fruit. ^
