Tomorrow night Garlic Fest in Highwood! It's the closest I'm going to get to Gilroy in the near future. My wife has pledged to try garlic ice cream.

I miss going to the garlic fest in Gilroy! Glad you have one there. The garlic ice cream isn't bad at all. And it is not like they give you a big bowl.

If you're adventurous and in Singapore, these guys might tickle your fancy... I'm told that some of the flavours are too realistic. The prices are for half litre pots but you should be able to order scoops.

Had my second(?) sushi dinner in a restaurant in 18 months. As a sushi lover, it has pained me to get takeout sushi. Had dinner with one of my best friends who reminded me that we have not seen each other since November. Far too long.

Second round with Ooni gas burner

We made a couple more pizzas with the gas burner on the Ooni oven. Getting a hang of the temperature management, I think. But still preferring wood fuel

Mushroom, pepperoni, green chili, and basil pizza.

Garlic cheese bread with outrageous amounts of NZ cultured butter. This was a winner. Plate needed to capture the excess liquified butter.

Another lazy dinner. Some maguro, hamachi and sake on a bed of greens with a wasabi soy dressing I whipped up, hijiki salad, and an ebi onigiri.

big yay. I hope that you can gather more often. It’s so nice. Safety is super possible. And bonus yay for your sushi.

Yay for lasagna.
I’m not a garlic fest guy - I don’t eat at stinking rose and I’ve driven past Gilroy CA often without stopping for garlic.

That made me hungry for shrimp. But I’m in the wrong place. I like mine fresh from the gulf. Maybe we will detour a little bit and stop somewhere on the way home for seafood in two weeks.

We stopped last night for barbecue. NC mountains are the right place for that. After multiple beers before and on the bus tour, we drank blueberry basil Jun Tea along with it. Fries and slaw on the side of my pulled pork.

The fact we hadn't seen each other since November it was really just a function of schedules and the fact that he is a bit of a hermit. Nothing pandemic related.

I'll be back to posting meals next week for a while as I was informed that my niece and nephew will arrive here next Wednesday afternoon as my brother and sister in law will take a cruise for six days*. Luckily, I have everything they eat but the fresh fruit here already so there's not much special shopping and we won't go out to eat unless their parents hand me cash at drop-off as opposed to at pick-up. That's me, if Granny pays, well, I'll have to drive.

*- Yea, I realized that a cruise from Port Canaveral is a dangerous game now, so their stay could be weeks.

Big mixed salad with BEC croutons and freshly ground Boggie dog pepper (thank you Boggie Dog!!)

Final piece of carrot cake from Susiecakes

I appreciate that reply.

I have the majority of things here already and will buy milk and fresh fruit within 24 hours of their arrival. I'll make cupcakes or some brownie/cupcake hybrid when they get here

BamaVol Jr #3 and his spouse were here for a couple days. We went back to Zillicoah Brewery because I enjoyed their beers, wanted to see what Fred’s rains had done to the French Broad River and wanted to try the resident taco truck.

We shared guacamole (spicy hot with chunks of onion, tomato and avocado)
Three of us ordered street style tacos. I had carnitas, BV Jr #3 ordered cheek meat. His wife had chicken.
The price was $3.75 each, I think.
There was a choice of 4 sauces. The red pepper was quite spicy but the beer took.care of that.
