After a large and extremely satisfying lunch (and first time in a restaurant in months -- this one had an outdoor deck so it felt safer) of shrimp po' boy and green salad, dinner tonight was a chocolate malt made with mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Huh? It’s hard to notice the difference between a 1” and a 2” thick steak? I’d say you are sorely mistaken, Señor.
i didn't have time to respond with a huh,what,huh?? |
My guest picked up dessert at a great restaurant ...some kind of dense fudgey chocolate cake with raspberries and mousse and mini chips coating the side. I remembered a photo after i dove in...didn't even bother to put on a plate.

I marinated chicken breasts in bbq sauce for a couple hours, then grilled them. I also grilled some asparagus with olive oil, sel de provence (salt with herbes du provence that I bought at the farmer's market in Nimes last year), and pepper.
Simple and delish. Oh, and some gruner veltliner and a Dove bar (dark chocolate and vanilla ice cream) for dessert. |
Salad with lettuce, tomatoes and watermelon (sorry, no picture), mahi-mahi with lemon-caper sauce, Lodge Bread olive bread, roasted carrots with thyme and oregano (NY Times), and Ottolenghi's baked mint rice with pomegranate and olive salsa (from Simple).

Turkey burger steak with pepper jack cheeseburgers on bunny buns grilled cheese & beets on sourdough sauteed onions oven fries roasted beets my first grilled cheese & beet... it was good! |
Grilled chicken thighs with ground Thai chilis, garlic powder, pink salt, and black pepper.
Farmer's market organic green beans and corn on the cob. Dessert: wild blackberry cobbler. |
I made beans and rice for the first time and it was realyl good!
olive oil in a pot with onion and garlic add jalapeno chicken sausage that was in the freezer, sliced up add sofrito base that we happened to have in the fridge, also some adobo and pepper add rice and beef stock (since it was the stock with the nearest expiration date) cook, covered until the stock was absorbed add a can of tomatoes and a can of kidney beans, both drained and rinsed give a stir and done. |
Last night - Steak Frites at Mon Ami Gabi after a shopping trip. As we were considering martinis, we stumbled upon 1/2 price wine bottle night, so also a bottle of Beaujolais.
Tonight - egg roll in a bowl. Basically everything that goes into an eggroll, minus the wrapper, and cooked together in the wok. You can Google the base recipe if interested. We add a healthy scoop of sambal olek and a little hoisin to it usually. |
