There are plenty of times that I am just eating cheese and crackers for dinner. |
Appetizer: goat cheese with cranberry and port sauce, Finn Crisp crackers
Main: grilled chicken patty sandwiches with Buffalo sauce, lettuce and fresh garden tomato slices Sides: Ranch beans with jalapeños, ruffled potato chips, chopped salad with poppyseed dressing |

wow...what a nice thing to say! You just made my day. ☺ No joke--- nothing would make me happier than to have people to cook for so come on over! And wine is a bonus.
My dinner was relatively spartan--several bowls of airport lounge chicken pieces mixed with shredded cheese and ranch dressing. With the recent disruptions and scheduling, wasn't able to eat for around 40 hours, and it actually tasted good! LOL Rerouted my cancelled flight to Vegas to spend the night before heading home tomorrow, and should have a really nice dinner tonight. |

In my view, all the dishes here look fabulous. Yours however always, at least to me, look as if prepared in a restaurant. For food like that, I'll offer to bring a bottle opposite the color of gfunkdave's, if it'll land me an invite!

A little sprinkle of herbs makes things look fancier. ;) How could you not eat for 40 hours?? Is that a typo? |
Roast pork loin with garlic butter and herbs (plus whole grain Dijon for me because I love mustard with pork)
Kale salad with craisins and poppy seed dressing |

Bagels and hot/smoked salmon
I’m pretty much at the point of getting all smoked salmon at Whole Foods. The KS value pack doesn’t get consumed on a timely manner even if it’s half the cost. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...edc2b02d8.jpeg

No, I don’t know anything about your socks. Mine have been accumulated over the years from multiple sources. I’ve found Old Navy to be a good source although less so today than 3-5 years ago. Sadly, I only wear long pants a few days a year now and I have a solid collection that remains unworn due to looking weird with shorts.
I tend to find any fun sock design at the mega cliche Sock Shop type stores. |
I need to be on a soft diet for a couple days so potato gnocchi with sage brown butter and parm

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...f39b62780.jpeg Wings, fries and slaw with a Sam Adams Cold Snap. The sauce was not as hot as the name implied, but tasty all the same. Our neighborhood bar and grill is back open after a year and it felt like the whole neighborhood was there. |

Sorry to be critical of your meal, but the sauce looks like gloppy BBQ to me. Glad they tasted good though! I've been overly sensitive to wings lately after our local NextDoor site had a long thread started by a person who moved here from Buffalo and was asking where she could find authentic wings. I was appalled by some of the places people suggested - confirming my belief that while Chicago may have a million places to get wings, they're not something we do well. I do have a few suggestions for anyone looking for wings here though :).

I am surprised that Beef o Brady's has three locations in the Villages. I frequented them while living in PC. Only upside on the wings was that they had wing specials either Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Last time I was at the BoB in Melbourne and the wings were so so. Remember the good old days were the restaurant at ORD airport, AA terminals, sold the best wings. They were breaded and spicy. |

Lots of things in The Villages come in threes because of the three squares. The one we patronize is in Leesburg, 10 miles south. I’m not a huge Beef’s fan or anything. The steaks there are particularly bad. But the wings are okay. I am of the unbreaded wing school. |
Ramenwell, Sf ca delivery via DASH

Last night, I had finally gathered to courage to try pork chops medium. It was great! I had it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and can see enjoying pork more this year than I ever have in the past.
By the way, this dry January really isn't working out for me this year, thus far. |

I can only imagine some of the places that were suggested. If I'm looking for true Buffalo-style wings, I'm heading to Buffalo Joe's. But as a Northwestern alum, there's a heavy dose of nostalgia in that decision. (Once upon a time YakZie's was also a fav, but I stopped going once the Diversey location closed.) Where do you recommend?

Seriously, glad you enjoyed it. I recall it opening a whole new world of lean pork possibility to me. |

I don't know if this makes me too young or too old. I remember watching the cartoon, but I don't think I've ever seen spinach in a can. Always fresh or frozen - and frozen in those little cardboard boxes. Back on the thread topic, I'm almost afraid to write this so I don't jinx it. My wife agreed to let me make my homemade split pea soup for dinner tonight. She claims she doesn't like it, so this is a big deal. Maybe it's just that her taste is only about 85% back after COVID :). Anyway, my company gives MLK day off, and her company doesn't. So I will happily start putting my soup together around 2:30 today while she's working. Can't wait to smell those ham hocks simmering. |

That actually sounds really good! Spinach is the *only* green veggie I can eat, and generally with lots of cream. My love for spinach probably stems from those old Popeye cartoons?
LOL...Especially when it comes to all thing culinary, I'm always open to new ideas! This way of having pork is game changer for me where it eliminates what was my prior issue, namely that I find well done meats too dry. Nothing wrong with well done for those who prefer it, but it's just not for me. I am so glad to spread the word to rid the world of dried out & overcooked pork. Go for it...pork tenderloin & pork chops await!! The exception would be tougher cuts such as pork butt which needs low and slow and long time cooking. |

One of our favs: roast salmon over lentils with fennel, cucumber and herby yogurt sauce. I did the salmon in the air fryer and was impressed! (Plus Daisy dog will enjoy her crispy salmon skin.)
