First chimichanga in decades. Probably the last, too. The filling was really good. The left side was really crunchy but given that the rest was getting soggy, I ate maybe 20 percent of the shell, and 95 percent of the filling, and saved a thousand calories.

I had to run to Home Depot for the second time today and decided to grab a burger from Five Guys for dinner. Beer and a greasy burger with fries sounded good and it sure was. Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and topped with ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise.

What makes a great dive? First, it should be dark inside. Second, all the food should be fried. Third, locals only, disreputable preferred. Fourth, beer in bottles only, generally long necks. Fifth, worst neighborhood in town or at least adjacent. Magnolias Oyster House ticks all the boxes. Mrs BV and her dad split 50 steamed clams and I ordered grouper in a bun. We left satisfied.

My dinner is certainly not as exquisite as some of those above...! Stopped by Hawaiian Brothers for dinner and got their mixed plate option with two of the spicy chicken dishes they offer. I was hoping to make something at home, though had to go into work much earlier today. Their food is quite good, though it would certainly be better if I was enjoying a plate lunch in Hawaii...! :)

Dinner was more of the fried rice from this afternoon with some char-siu and roast pork. Dessert was a small bowl of cherries.. Tastier than the early season stuff. Washed down with HK-style milk tea.

I still can’t get into the macaroni. Maybe it’s also because I’m not a huge fan of macaroni salad nor pasta salad. I’m getting my hair job today and I’ve already plotted a luncheon at Ono Hawaiian bbq chain - it’s conveniently in the same strip mall. Thankfully they have a luncheon special dish served without macaroni salad.
