Grilled cheese and chili. Tomato pickle and bacon in the grilled cheese.

I had $25 in Uber Eats credits to use up, so I ordered from a local Mediterranean restaurant which operates like a Chipotle (and is delicious). I settled on the falafel (made fresh in store) and a gyro bowl with hummus, sumac onions, cucumber, olives, lettuce and tzatziki.

Dinner: lots of leftover chili. No grilled cheese.

I did not make it all that spicy but noticed again that it seems spicier when reheated. Maybe someone understands the chemistry involved.

We had dear old friends for dinner last night; we probably haven't seen them in over 20 years. Of course, I forgot to take pictures until we served dessert and even that one I took after my wife started serving it. It was spectacular, if I may say so, Strawberry Pavlova from the most recent issue of Bon Appetit.

For those of you who live in SoCal, I made the sauce with Gloria Tamai Family Farms Strawberries and used Harry's Berries Gaviota strawberries for the macerated strawberries, both bought at the Wednesday Santa Monica Farmers Market where Chefs Walter Manzke and Chris Bianco were also shopping while we were there.

Trader Joe's Santa Maria tri-tip roasted in the oven, sliced across the grain. Oven baked steak fries and mixed greens on the side.

For dessert, Trader Joe's blueberry lemon hand pies with a scoop of Costco vanilla.
