This from someone who claimed not to have bought a tub in years. I admire your will power, but it was apparently no match for my endorsement.

Why would anyone resort to Hagen Days when you can get Blue Bunny?

Get out. Now!

I did try Blue Bunny ice cream (a restaurant nearby replaced "Blue Bell" with it because of the listeria situation). I had never heard of it, and thought it was a "Blue Bell" knockoff. It tasted like a knockoff to me - I wasn't a fan. But I was surprised to read that it's the 3rd largest ice cream manufacturer in the USA.

I find it concerning that Haagen-Dazs brands their product as a premium ice cream but one of the first ingredients on the label is skim milk. Skim milk doesn't have nearly enough butterfat content to produce a rich and creamy consistency. The water content in skim milk will produce an icy texture. When I make ice cream myself I use a combination of heavy cream and half& half with the heavy cream being the higher proportion. I just don't see the point in paying a high price for a product that uses subpar ingredients.

This. I am not a fan of the texture. Good flavor but the rest is hype. Not that I would ever turn it down though.

No kidding! Bit of a perfect storm, happened to go the grocery store than night, needed to pick up milk, ice cream freezer is across, had big sale stickers on, and had that flavour! Otherwise I know I would never have hunted it out if it was days or weeks later!

Still haven't had it, too ruddy cold! Had a hot bath and wine last night for supper! Will try over the weekend to give it a go!

It's not hard to find in Hawaii. Then, of course, there is this:

Hula pie - mac nut ice cream, chocolate cooke crust, hot fudge, mac nuts and whipped cream. Just shared a piece a couple of nights ago.

You are nicer than I am. I wouldn't have shared.

It's OK, but I find it is way too sweet for me.
