Eh. It is okay. There's a better, and less touristy, place in Slinger. You'll drive right past it on your way to Kelley's. Kelley also makes a killer pie. And cheese curds. And ice cream. Really everything. But if you need cheese and/or sausage. Helds in Slinger is the place to go.

^ Agreed, making it yourself will always be better than what you buy so long as you use good ingredients.

I just made a strawberry ice cream to die for. Macerated the berries for nearly a day and used a custard base with almost all cream with only some milk...

Mmmm.. Now I can't wait to get fresh strawberries from a local farm and try it that way.

Just last week I noticed they had Haagen-Dazs peanut butter & chocolate ice cream at CVS. I don't know if it's a new flavor or if the store just started carrying it, but I had never seen it before.

I've bought three pints since then. That's my favorite ice cream flavor of all time.

I have to nip this problem in the bud.

I'm pretty sure they were referring to macadamia nut ice cream. And yes, I can imagine a flavor like that would be difficult to find.

Haagen Dazs (I give up trying to copy/paste the ä!) is manufactured by Nestle/Dreyers in the US and Canada. Outside these countries, it's manufactured by General Mills.

Nestle has a license until the year 2100 to produce it in the US and Canada. See this interesting (to me!) WSJ article: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB1009414941983387480. If you get a paywall, try googling the headline, "Nestle Acquires Half of Haagen-Dazs Unit That It Doesn't Own From General Mills"

I thinks it's a new flavor. I like it too, but I prefer Rocky Road more. It's harder to find Rocky Road at the stores I shop at.

You! You are responsible for a tub of Black Cherry Amaretto Gelato in my freezer.

My house was freezing last night so I didn't have any but will give it a go tonight. And it is YOUR fault.

(it was also on sale at the store, woo hoo!)

That sounds awesome!

I also like the HD Pineapple / Coconut flavor.

On the rare occasion I want real ice cream, I'm lucky to have the Berkey Creamery a few hours away. It's a nice drive.
