That's a whole lot of assumptions.

I've been to a few Michelin starred restaurants with my own kid. Those meals cost in the range of 7USD and 22USD (we've paid more at places without stars)

We've taken her to experience great food more for her benefit rather than that of any of the accompanying adults.

Have never had to worry about her behaviour even (perhaps especially) when she was 6 months old.

Relevant to people debating taking wee ones to fine dining: Michelin-starred restaurants in New York offering special groups for toddlers (and their parents): Nibble & Squeak

Love the name. Brings to mind very well-behaved mice.

I have no problem with people taking their kids to nice restaurants, I do it myself, sometimes. But it doesn't make me a better parent than those who don't. I didn't eat at a restaurant with waiters until I was 17. My parents couldn't afford a nice meal more than once a year or so, and then only for themselves.

I turned out fine. Learning to order, pay and tip isn't rocket science. I figured it out.

First time I went to Per Se, there was a table next to mine with a family of 6, including a kid about 10. He was remarkably well behaved and seemed to really enjoy the experience.

Never crossed my mind that this would be a problem. Have done it many times. As parents, I think we are the best judge of whether they would be well behaved and sit through the dinner

I'd amend it to "we should be the best judge." Some parents aren't on their A game when it comes to training up civilized kids. All the more encouraging this lot, then.
