Marketing Fail - McWrap?

Just saw a McDonald's commercial for the McWrap. Given that the W is silent, is this really a good name for this product?

McDonald's issues are beyond the name. The customer service issue is already on another FT thread.

MCD has same store sales being even or down and franchisees mad over the Dollar Menu.

They want Market Share over franchisee success.

The premium McWraps were introduced here last week at a $2/ea. promo price. I tried them twice and neither were anything I'd pay $3.99 for at the regular price, and I'd have to be desperately hungry to buy another one on sale.

The English cucumber slices tasted odd, and the lettuce was completely wilted by the time I was within the bottom third of the wrap.

I kind of like the wraps. Maybe have one ever 2 months or so. Diet Coke + the chicken wrap. Kind of tasty every now and then... (I must have had smaller wraps...they're about $1.50 regular price.)

If it weren't for the $1 any size soft drinks, I'd probably never visit a McDonald's outside of a long roadtrip. That's literally the only reason I pull into the drive-thru. Once there, I may or may not add on a food item...

I had always assumed that the dollar menu was a huge success for them. It has been years since I've visited either a Burger King or Wendy's outside of a roadtrip.

I had one of the Big Mac Snack Wraps a few years ago. In my opinion, the beef is seasoned to blend well with the bun and the taste of the big mac elements on the wrap just didn't taste very good.

I never had another.

But they don't lose money on any of these dollar items...

The dollar soft drinks are great - in the summer I walk a lot, and there is a McDonalds on one of my walking routes, and I will stop in and get a diet coke.

It has been a long time since I bought food in one, I think it would have been a grilled cheese with apple slices (yes, a happy meal) when we stopped out of loo-break / hunger break necessity on a long road journey.

The $ drinks are good if the dispensers are properly calibrated

I still think McD's bfast options are decent if I don't have time for IHOP

I've been meaning to try the premium wraps

This. most of the time we just pull in for soda. Sometimes we'll get fries or a snack.

Get rid of the $1 soda and we probably don't go to mcdonald outside the occasional egg mcmuffin (I hear they have a new egg white one that I'll try next time)

I tried one of their premium chicken wraps and it was ok. Not sure I would ever need to try it again unless they had a coupon. I am happy with their value menu.

I don't think anyone has commented on the linguistic challenge of a "silent w" McWrap.

Nova, anyone?
