We had NYE dinner with friends last night at a restaurant. Posting the menu primarily to show the wine pairings for each course. We started off with a bottle of Peter Lauer Saar Riesling Sekt Brut and then followed with the pairings.

I had: 1. Nicholas Feuillate Champagne 2. Maxhof Riesling 3. Benanti Etna Blanco 4. Chateauneuf-du-Pape 5. Vin Santo

Angelus in general is what made me think I might love Bordeaux as well. When I saw the bottle I told him, "Oh, I love Angelus" to which he replied, "Of course you do, Dave. That's why they call it...Angelus." His comment was that the '95 was wonderfully plush and balanced with great fruit, and in the perfect place now.

But Burgundy will always have my heart...even if I don't have the wallet for it.

I am not doing dry January but rather damp January. It is probably best to avoid this thread for a while.

Oh I love muscadet! I first had it at a mussels place in France when I asked for a glass of white wine and they served muscadet. It's delightful with seafood.

Good on you. I thought about it but then was like, naaah. But tonight I only had one beer!
