I dunno, I didn't go into a Burger King. But you know what they put on french fries in Holland instead of ketchup?

Yep. You joined in on a string of quotes from Pulp Fiction. Thought you knew....
But I couldn't really quote the next line now, could I? Would get me banned. |
I need to cast my vote for Shake Shack in NYC. I wouldn't be surprised if they sprinkled some crack on that thing it's so good.
|
I've been thinking of this thread during my trip to NYC. My verdict:
Shake Shack: Awesome burger with cheese, but the bun is just so sweet that it's unpleasant to my European taste buds. Expectation fail De Santos: NYC Brunch place with "unlimited" champagne cocktails (until you finish their champagne - oops) does a really phenomenal burger. The best I've had in the last year. High quality, done medium rare, full of flavour. |
The Burger Joint in NYC if you can find it. Ignore the man behind that curtain.

Gotts Roadside in Napa gets my vote when in CA.
On the east coast right now my choice is for BLT Burger. My wife says Buckhorn in Downtown Napa has the best burgers @ $6.99 I go once a month to Phylises ( sp ) in Novato for a mushroom burger. Its good! with a retired friend of mine. We have been in more burger joints than the average person. And, as several folks have mentioned, I cook a good burger myself! Cheers! |
Hands down Chuckbox in Tempe, AZ
(http://www.thechuckbox.com) Flame-broiled. Delicious. Maybe my flight home from ATL will divert quickly so I can grab one ;) |

IMO, veggies have no place on a burger. Start with the basics, meat, cheese and bun. If anything is added to this, it must not be healthy, it must contribute to clogging your arteries. More cheese? Heck yeah. Chili? Bring it on. Tomato? No way. Pickle? Evil!
|
Never really talked about by burger seekers, but there's a small place in lower Pac Heights, SF, that serves up the best burgers I've ever had: Curbside Cafe on California St (by Mollie Stone's). You would never know it from the look of the place or the menu, but the burgers are incredible.
|
I had a memorable burger at Gramercy Tavern in NYC last week that ranks right up there in my books with any I've had anywhere ever. ^

The grilled cheesus is pretty amazing in PDX :)
"The Original Cheesus The Now-Famous Burger Behemoth. We've done away with the bun and replaced it with two grilled cheese sandwiches. That's right, two of them. One on top, another on the bottom. Pickles and American Cheese in one, Grilled Onions and Colby Jack in the other. Lettuce, Tomato, Ketchup, Mustard and 1/3lb Burger in between. You won't need to eat again for 2 days. Comes with potato chips and napkins." |

As an Arizona State graduate I smile when I think of that place. I certainly wouldn't call it the best burger in the world but I've walked and driven past it so many times so thank you for the good memories

Has anyone tried Fergburger in Christchurch? Pretty good, but wouldn't beat In N Out, IMO.

Another great place for burgers is Rare in NYC, the restaurant/bar at the Hilton Fashion District on 26th st near 7th ave in Chelsea. Service is great as well and I love their fries.
They also give you a few small bowls with different types of ketchups and mustards. |
Mini cheeseburgers in the bar at the Paris Park Hyatt. Everything, including the tiny rolls were hand made. Perfect in every way ^

I like the breakfast burger at the NYC Hilton Fashion District Hotel in their RARE restaurant. It is a burger wrapped in an omelet with a nice berry fruit side. It is about $12 but best of all it is available for free to staying Hilton Gold/Platinum members as a free breakfast benefit (along with other breakfast options). I ordered mine rare (trusting it was a proper high-end burger and steak joint) and I wasn't disappointed, great burger.

The unofficial spokesman for the infamous Las Vegas restaurant Heart Attack Grill has, you guessed it, died of a heart attack.
9000 calories. Good to the last bite. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/0...#ixzz2KkKcEoxg |
Slightly off topic, but just how big a burger (patty only) is "just right?" 1/3 lb? 1/2? 2x1/3 patties? more?
Assume whatever ratio of meat::accompaniments seems reasonable. For me, 1/3-1/2 lb is just about right. I can get a good char without overcooking the middle and it leaves enough room on the bun for a large grilled portobello mushroom, peppers, etc., etc., etc. |

Really do like the smaller, simpler burgers: Shake Shack and In-N-Out.
But also like the burgers at Kettle Black in Brooklyn. Great Delmonico steak burger. |
Mine is from the Philippines! Not to be biased but in Cebu, there's a restaurant named Casa Verde and they've got this really huge burger. 9" and 5" big. It's mouth watering. The patty have been grilled perfectly and it compliments with its sauce and the tomatoes and lettuce. Just thinking about it makes me hungry. hmmm..

Kuma's in Chicago is by far the best I have ever had. And I currently live in NYC where my favorites are Shake Shack, Burger Joint, and Island Burgers and Shakes.
In Sao Paulo (my hometown) I really like the Pic Burguer (hamburguer of picanha, the best cut of beef http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picanha) at The Fifties. |
