Speaking of ice cream, has anyone tried Magnum? Holy Moley...so good. I am never buying it again because I just saw the calorie count but wow.

just had first rainier cherries in 2020. Yummy. Last had them in summer 2019.

agreed on cyclical sales but Im unsure when our favorites will be on sale again - I only shop at one major supermarket (Safeway - Albertsons) in sf. Only other shops I visit are pseudo-gourmet grocers (our equivalent of Napili Market and a store that would complement Dominique Ansel) and my hyper-local cornershop.

first had Magnum in Spain in 1986. I also love Moevenpick of Germany although I love almost all ice creams in Germany, especially Italeis (gelato).

Im pretty certain that all ice creams have high calorie counts which explains why theyre so tasty :-)

Magnum is an international brand owned by Unilever. Ive seen their bars at Costco. I like their variety of ice cream bars in Indonesia. Havent seen tubs on sale, here.

This. Give it a few weeks and it'll be back on sale.

Pay attention to the Safeway sales. It may be helpful to save 4-6 weeks' worth of sale circulars and compare those so you learn the cycle of each item you buy frequently. Then, you simply need to buy enough to last you from one sale to another. So, if you go through 10 pounds of chicken in a month, and it is on sale each month, then you'll want to buy 10-12 pounds of chicken each time it is on sale. Always label things with dates of when they enter your freezer, so you follow first in first out. Otherwise, things will get lost in the freezer and/or you'll pull from the newest first by accident.

Oh there are. But unfortunately the person I was having my lunch meeting with picked this place because it was cheap. I do agree with you that you can find good pizza and I think I know which place you're referring to. But I still haven't found an honest to God good Italian restaurant here.

I had pierogi for lunch and they were great. We bought fresh ones at Whole Foods (potato, cheddar, jalapeno). I sauteed them in some peanut oil and had them with a salad.

I remember the Polish ladies at my dad's office bringing in pierogi and eating them dipped in sour cream. I bet that was decadent. I think theirs had meat in them, though.

Tonight I'm going to make orecchiete with pesto and chicken.

leftover pizza and meatloaf for my luncheon, probably with raw carrots and potato salad. One day I’ll figure out how to make my own potato salad :-)

yeah, the pizzeria is near a 3-5 level parking lot tied with a hotel and in an area that encourages parking in the lot. Nice spot where a reservation helps or helped.

I also loved Monuts.

if not for severe humidity and heat, I have fantasized about relocation. IMHO it’s lower cost of living compared to San Francisco but the high heat and humidity would be a challenge. I’m less bothered about the political differences :-)

This is way more decadent than the bars. The entire plastic container is coated inside with a thick coating of Belgian chocolate with an extra thick layer on top (drool). And the inside of the flavor I got was rich and creamy vanilla with huge swirls of gooey salted carmel. It is over the top. And I would say it was way more calories than other premium ice creams.

I would KILL for my mother's potato and cheese peirogi. Kill. I haven't tried any store bought ones since she died 5 years ago because I can't imagine they would be close to her perfection. I would eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner when I visited her. Always with sour cream. It chokes me up just thinking about them.

One of the churches near me hosts pierogi sales throughout the year. They are amazing and they are made by the little old church ladies.

If you don't have Babička's or Maminka's recipe, it's just not the same. Honestly, part of what makes them taste so much better is the love they include.

Leftover pizza for luncheon - reheated at 350, it was fantastic. Plus tortilla chips with leftover pico de gallo and some potato salad. Very yummy.

My spouse had spanakopita, chicken tenders, and cherries for luncheon; I bought them at Gus’ (now I can say that they’re probably like Gelson’s).

our child is at SUMMER CAMP and luncheon is provided:
Tuesday - chicken tenders
wednesday - Mac & cheese
thursday - corn dog

i’m just so thrilled for this!!
