Ice cream. Lots and lots of ice cream. We went to the Turkey Hill Experience today. In addition to lots of ice cream samples, we participated in the Taste Lab, where you can make your own ice cream. One would think they would have lids for the pints of ice cream that each participant creates. One would be mistaken.

Speaking of dumplings....
Just got back from a trip to Asia (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Shanghai) and on my last night enjoyed some always-wonderful items at one of Din Tai Fung's Shanghai locations. http://puu.sh/qnhF5/7a52476937.jpg The original soup dumplings, that made them famous. The filling is insanely rich and delicate. And of course the vinegar/soy/ginger DIY sauce is the perfect compliment. http://puu.sh/qnhBT/e600e8c604.jpg I don't remember the exact item, but these were some sort of dumpling/wonton filled with pork and prawn in a spicy soup. Quite nice, but nothing on the chicken soup dumplings. |

This morning for breakfast I had mofongo with shredded lechon, which I had brought into the office for lunch today, however the smell of it in the car was just too much, so a delicious breakfast it was. |

Fried carrot cake Singapore
Cooked hawker food in Singapore. Fried carrot cake from a cooked food centre.
Green curry puff. Rendang flavour, from Old Chang Kee, a household name in Singapore selling curry puffs and other fried stuff. |
My 17-year-old cooked his first meal tonight - chicken and pasta with garlic, scallions and shaved parmesan.
I seasoned when he wasn't looking but it was pretty good for a first effort.^ Now,getting him to tidy his room is the next step ... |
