I thought at first when I read this post that it sounded familiar and that I might have been there. Then I recalled that my experience some years ago was at a place in the main train station at Frankfurt. It didn't rise to the level of a restaurant, just a place for relatively quick foods already prepared--and for beer, of course.

DH had the ham hocks and sauerkraut. We also had some variation on noodles and a gravy. Other things to try but we couldn't manage them all. We probably would have moved in, if they had only let us.

If there is a restaurant at the airport that good, then it would be good indeed. ^

DH is the name of a person in this case.
Thought I saw Schweineshaxe on the menu at the Hoff Brau house in the main concurse. BUT I could be mistaken.

Check out this thread: Dining in FRA

DH generally means "Dear Husband."

BTW, I found the ff recipe on the Internet, which looks somewhat interesting.

One of my favorite dishes.

There are a number of restaurants serving this hearty dish in Frankfurt. If you have some time between flights, some are just a short distance from the U-Bahn into town from the airport. I suggest you might try this one:

Zur Schnen Mllerin
Baumweg 12
60316 Frankfurt (Nordend)
Tel.: 069-432069
Email: [email protected]

The owner accepts most credit cards.

Not really, Eisbein is normally a much fattier hock that has been cured first. Schweinshaxe will be crisp, Eisbein won't be.
