anyone see any copper river salmon at their local costco this year? it's time. supposed to be a slim year, as 2005 had low water, and most of the king salmon are 5 yo.

Rumor has it it's just arrived - in Chicago-area Costcos, at least.

Copper River Sockeye Salmon was available last week at the Costco in Weantchee for $12.99/lb. (I bought 6 lbs.) Other stores in the area are carrying Copper River Sockeye for $19.99/lb and Copper River King for $29.99/lb. Costco sold out pretty quickly and I didn't see any Sunday.

Ummm, no. This one has not been able to find an upper limit.

Thank you OP for the tip... I'm off to CostCo as soon as it opens.

Copper River Salmon (my all time fav; people should google it to see why) and King Crab. Yummy dinner tonight. Just hope they have some, because one can only eat so many Raman noodles.

I don't recall ever having tried Copper River salmon, but this thread piqued my interest, so I got over to Costco on Sunday to look for it. They had it on display next to the farmed Atlantic salmon, which looked a bit sad in comparison. A bit more expensive here in Orlando at $14.99 a pound, but I picked some up, and grilled a piece for lunch today. Milder flavor than I expected, and very tender and moist. I will watch for it again in the future.

Had some at the ABQ costco, $14.99 lb. (no King Crab though). Said they are getting some more CRS this week, then no more until next year.

I'm heading over to the Mt. Laurel, NJ Costco to look for it. It's my favorite. Thanks for the heads up. Also a good idea to stock up on the Philips crab meat since it has a good shelf life in the frig and will probably go up in price with the Gulf oil mess.

Bought two Copper River and placed one in the freezer for later. Wonderful and very much better than the farmed raised.

i'm not all that big on Phillips(crab meat or restaurants) their crab meat usually comes from mexico, or viet nam. they may say things on the container that carry the words maryland and Chesapeake bay, but it ain't. it is also pasturized, and may have been frozen.

skipping the handling, i think it is tasteless.

This thread is way too cruel: We can't get wild salmon here, let alone Copper River salmon. Everything comes from farms in Scotland and Norway.

(I don't miss much American food, but I do miss the Copper River salmon!)

Last month I picked up a package of salmon patties at Costco when they had a $4 off coupon in the mailer. With that and the regular farm raised fillets I keep in the freezer, I'm all salmoned up now. I might have to get a third freezer.

I'm happy to say that I have not had farm raised salmon in over 3 years. I purchase all of my salmon from a company in Alaska. It is wild salmon that is line caught.
You can definitely see and taste the difference. Sockeye, coho, king or white king, all of it is great!
