This is what I keep at home:

Charles Heidsieck Blanc de Millenaires
Krug
Cristal (thought it would be overrated, but it wasn't)

and for a more budget option, Barons de Rothschild Brut

I like Codorniu - it's one of my favourites and was recommended by a professional catering/waiter company that deals with embassies. Very good stuff at a very convenient price, as you're actually paying for the stuff inside and not for the label.

For a mass party-wine I would go for the Two Oceans Sauvignon Blanc. Love the dry taste.

Of course when going for expensive stuff you really don't need opinions, lots of good stuff around.

Always like to have a few bottles of Villmart and Gatinois on hand.

Sparkling - soljan muscato and nautilus

Champagne.- Dom, Krug, moet nectar and moet reserve imperial are my biggest faves.

Yet to try bilecart salmon and Louis roederer cristal.

In general I think sparkling or champagne is difficult to drink, can pick up a nice sav blanc easily but most of the champagnes I've found a struggle to get through. Not very smooth at all.

I don't buy into the whole "champagne" gimmick which was created by lawyers. To me it's all the same.

The worst sparkling wine I've ever had was technically a "champagne" and I wouldn't drink it for free if they were giving it out on the streets.

Some sparkling wines are indeed champagne-like, but many have a fundamentally different production process, different grapes, are aged in a different way and a different make-up one finished. So not really a difference in name only.

It's all about the food pairings too or having it with a meal. I can't really fathom drinking a whole bottle by itself without a meal. That'd be tough.

For mid priced stuff:

Laurent-Perrier Rose
Veuve Clicquot
Besserat de Belefon Blanc de Blancs

The California stuff is generally pretty bad. If you're going to spend $30, spend a few more bucks and get something French. Works nicely if you have OJ or St. Germain, club soda and lemon to make a nice cocktail.

Never tried it before, though it was something like 70% off at my local supermarket so I have a bottle waiting for me downstairs.
