Yep! That, and biscuits and gravy.

Mmm how could I forget an equally delicious meal?

Full English breakfast.

Or IHOP with reindeer sausage and strawberry crepes. :D

Please don't give me crappy "Italian sausages."
And I still don't get the whole pancakes and waffles for breakfast thing. Waffles are meant to be eaten with ice cream and syrup for dessert. ;)

scrambled eggs, grits, country ham w/ red eye gravy, & buttermilk biscuits.

Pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. American breakfasts are great apart from the sausages which are often terrible

I was in france once and went to this breakfast creperie and got served the most amazing ham and egg crepes with mushrooms. I don't think that is mainstream breakfast but definitely one of my top 5.

Not specific to any one country, but my favorite breakfast is a full brunch at any one of a number of higher-end Asia hotels. Eggs, Dim Sum, fresh juices, coffee/tea, et al. YUMMY!

Just back from a week at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. I was fortunate to be in a Club room which included complimentary full breakfast in the 57th floor lounge. I too really like to mix West & East for breakfast, and the higher end Asian hotels are a great place to do it. Throw in the wide-open city and water views, the infinity pool, and great service. Very happy about that stay.

I quite like Asian breakfasts:
Congee (China, various others)
Pho (Vietnam)
Nami Lemak (Malaysia)

The English version also has the beans on toast. I especially adore the Scottish version, which adds porridge (I skip the kippers), and ... What is that flat bread called? Made with oats and amazing.
Still trying to find good streaky bacon here.

Would this mean the plain rice porridge where you then add various sour and spicy pickles and nuts in another cup?

German breakfast?? Nah...

Dutch breakfast far surpasses it with their take on scrambled eggs and much better cheeses and ham....then there is the garlic butter and excellent coffee.

What are those chocolate sprinkles called? :D

Ah, that would be hagelslag.

I've more often seen it served pre-mixed up, different to how the Vietnamese will almost always serve Pho with chillies and cilantro on the side. I think dried fish is the most popular thing to dump in to congee, but I prefer just a little bit of chicken.

For the benefit of Flyertalkers, I would note that the CX Congee in F is lovely.

Years ago I found myself having breakfast at some anonymous LHR hotel and bought the Sunday Times for a read. This article (note- PDF file) covering a breakfast at Simpson's-in-the-Strand made me laugh so hard that I tore out the page from the magazine and kept it, then 15 or 16 years later transcribed it. (It's not available on the web - from pre-web days.) Copyright words, etc. are presumed.

WOW! I remember reading that the first time around and am shocked it is from that long ago! It was a great description of breakfast!

Another vote for Vietnam.
