Earlier in this thread I posted that I wasn't a big fan of this. The last 2 nights, I had a shot and have to say the flavor was nice and smokey. Think Islay.
Tomorrow, I'll drink this the way I usually do. A hint of water and a couple of ice cubes for sipping.
Who knows. Maybe this is meant to be chugged?

How could that be?
As I have already said DB is now my daily tipple primarily because of the regular $35-40 prices I find in Duty Free shops.
However, last night I finished my last remaining bottle of Signatory bottled Port Ellen 1979 (I thought it was all gone and was overjoyed to find this one, preserved with the wine vacuum system I use for Whisky). Without a doubt that remains the finest whisky I have ever tasted. Now if I can sneak out to buy another bottle, a bargain now at only US$352

stumbled across a site that lets you compare prices of duty free items along your route. Might be helpful for some. They are still in Beta (work in progress..) so are missing destinations, and product offering not complete, but a nice conncept. www.dutyfreebee.com

I've not seen Platinum over here in NAmerica yet, but the Explorer series has been popping up in airport Duty Frees around the continent, USA and Canada, not sure about Mexico.

Platinum is out in NYC. Not something I would purchase as there are tons of better options at the $100 price point...but I do expect I'll come into a bottle during the holidays.

Not a JW drinker here either (I keep one or two Blue's on hand for parties), but the Double Black (from Costco after seeing it in the Duty Free's around the world) is quite enjoyable.

I'm a single malt guy, but the price can add up. Double Black, which continues to be a steal at Costco, is a reasonable substitute for those occasions when I don't feel like breaking out the good stuff.
