Foothills Brewing Company People's Porter.

I'm still not a fan of Porter, but this is one of the better ones I've had.

That stuff is really good.

Having moved to the US i am trying to get through all the Pale Ales and lagers i can find. Deschutes Mirror Pond is still my fav.

US beer seems a lot like US food, good, but not too subtle, and about 5 years behind Aus. Hence the abundance of IPAs here. I would love to see some more well crafted lagers and pilseners

I would not say that. There are some very nice craft beers in the US these days. I also love pilsners. Try to get your hands on the Anderson Valley pilsner if you can; you will not be disappointed.

I don't mind the -- slightly more common -- stubbies either and the "draft" Tsingtao (which isn't "draft" at all) is also drinkable, but I try to avoid anything all other varieties of Tsingtao like the plague.

I've seen most of the Expat "Old China Hands" who came to live in the Middle Kingdom in the 1980's and 90'ies to prefer those Tsingtao "stubbies".

We prefer them to the green bottles (especially the big ones that are recycled and refilled), for sure, but the stubbies certainly aren't world class by any means. Meanwhile, the clear bottles are downright good.

Tree Brewing Company's Cutthroat West Coast Ale. Nice flavor from this Kelowna brewery. ^

Actually my new fave is Thirsty Beaver, a medium-bodied amber ale from the same brewery. Under $3 for a half litre or around a pint it's not a bad buy IMHO. Glad I tried something different on a Fri. night.

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
