Anyone having luck having annual fee waived on Bus Delta Amex lately?
I usually try to get my annual fee waived each year by calling and saying I would like to cancel. Sometimes I tell them I have gotten an offer from another airline with no annual fee and bonus miles and I make sure that I have the offer in front of me when I call. It has worked several times in the past. I called yesterday after my $95 fee showed up on my statement. Got to say I really wasn't in the mood to debate or come up with any really good reasons why they should waive my fee. The lady told me that they are really not taking the annual fees off. Has anyone else had any luck lately getting their annual fees waived? Thanks for any input. Maybe I will call back and talk to someone and have my act together this time.

amex might welcome you closing the account since recently they were offering money for people to close their accounts.

Honestly, I have a card on my husbands amex account but really like having this account open because it has a good credit line and I have had it open for a number of years. I pay it off each month. I really don't want to close it but don't like paying annual fees.

Costco offers a no fee AmEx card for its members, as one option.

I don't have very recent personal experience to share, but historically, if you spend "enough" in a year, they can do something... although it will be a statement credit and NOT a fee waiver... but if your spending is low, especially in today's credit world, I don't suspect they are eager to waive.

And if you have done this several years in a row with low spending... they figure you are either (A) not worth it or (B) will call your bluff.
You might get lucky and get a receptive agent, but then again who knows....

Well, although I have done this a several years, I charge alot . I do pay my balance each month but they make plenty in merchant fees. I have kept it for the delta miles but since they quit offering double miles on many purchases, it takes alot longer to reach earning levels.

No waivers on the gold bus or personal plat AMEX for me. Doesn't bother me one bit...just two less cards I have to worry about.
