I've spent around $10,000 on flights out to San Jose this year on Delta. In November, AirTran flies into SFO. Let's see . . . fly on Delta on more expensive fares when I'm out of upgrades? Or I could use our corporate account at AirTran and get unlimited FREE upgrades from coach fares at time of booking for more expensive fares.

Sure, Delta may match but it's AirTran that sets the price bar and absolutely deserves the business.

This is great. This will allow non-PM pax to continue to "protect" upgrades more than 72 hours out using miles.

I couldn't see how this would work - particularly for non-elites - who don't have a window! Would that have meant at-the-gate miles upgrades only? I don't believe any major domestic carrier restricts timing of miles upgrades.
