Mike, different strokes for diferent folks, I fly everywhere on Earth and between many major places in the US, I believe that in the last decade I have flown a grand total of two routes that Southwest flies.

Within the US every place I've been in at least the last 6 years is now served by WN except CVG & ATL.

Overseas we now use CO, looking forward to the *A options!

Wow!! You must change your tickets alot! I can't remember ever paying a change fee on DL, and only once for changing an award ticket, (but that was a redeposit and reissue for a lower milage F redemption price on the same flight 10 years ago).

You should definately stay with WN since your plans change so often.

All 3 are/were FlyerTalk events that came up after other travel was booked. Blame it on FT! However, I've really come to appreciate that flexibility. :)

I guess it's the new ex-NW mindset... ..... and moan then complain some more for no reason, add in a random attack of Delta and it's a post.

Given this is in the DL forum and this is a thread about DL benefits/non-benefits for SkyMiles-WorldPerks customers, there's nothing random about criticisms of Delta that are posted here so far.

Delta Airlines is getting the criticism it deserves this time too.

They're also getting some praise (universal unlimited rollover sure is an interesting experiment!) and, whatever else, valuable information about how their offerings stack up against the rest, as seen from the point of view of (some of!) the people choosing amongst them...

* Just under $900 in refare savings

* Major changes in plans for 3 trips x 2 people. In fact, the ONLY business we've given DL/NW since March 8 have been trips to ATL that were changed w/o penalty from trips to elsewhere on WN. If DL/NW were our airline of choice  we'd have been stuck or fleeced

MikeMpls, please keep your Southwest Cheerleading in the Southwest forum. We know they don't have change fees... wow....

No matter what you say about them, Southworst is still Greyhound with Wings: no first class, no international destinations, etc.

Also, the only reason you aren't paying anything different is because you are buying WN's most expensive ticket (i.e. the Business Select or Fully Refundable Fare)... if you bought a cheap ticket on WN, you'd still be paying the difference in fare.

If you buy the fully changeable/refundable ticket on DL, you won't be paying any change fees either.

.... and profitable.....

Though I don't fly them often - mine is mostly TATL - I still see thier apeal esp vs DL domestically....

100% wrong. I have yet to buy either.

Better Y service than DL/NW, better employee attitudes all around, better peanuts, no jungle yets, and :D all first class.

Then you have constantly been paying the difference in fare from your original purpose to the fully refundable fare as Southwest doesn't sell anything other than their full fare less than 7 days out.

All first? Um, no. There is NO first class. Just because it is one class, doesn't mean it's first. The seats are not first class seats, you do not get a free meal/snack, and you don't get free drinks... So... um.... no.

Plus, the attitude thing... I completely disagree. When I get on a plane, I am not looking to be entertained by the flight attendants. Stop telling jokes, stop singing, just stop with the extra talk... Be professional (like Delta Flight Attendants).

You're just totally off base here. I'd suggest you quit imagining what fares I buy & change.

I would fly a DL CRJ to avoid that (as well as earn points/MQMs for international travel).

[QUOTE=mdb;12297409

I don't, but then my priorities for flying are:

1. Destinations that I am going to.

2. Assigned Seats

3. A First Class Cabin to book or upgrade to.

Southwest has none of these for me, They do not fly to any airport within 2 hours driving time of me, and their destinations from there are of no interest to me. The no assigned seats is a real deal killer for me. Life is too short. I'll fly coach for a short flight, but I won't do it for a transcon anymore.

To each their own, different people have different priorities.

Absolutely... well worth the pleasure of not having to listen to some "holier than thou" flight attendant tell the same joke over and over.

It's still a fact. Sorry, but Southwest only sells full fare tickets within 7 days of the flight. It's just true.
