BDG, I hope this helped you. Don't you love it when irrops (or similar) happen when you most need it? Give us an update when you can.

Yup, I'm getting screwed right at this very moment.... 167 miles to go!!!! So I finally figure out some creative meeting schedule so work would allow me to go to EWR tomorrow. I had a 1:00pm meeting, leaving 5:45am get to EWR in at 10:39am... however DL cancelled my flight now there is no time to reschedule a meeting and no point in going. I called them asking if they can work out the 167 miles, SMS said to email instead. She said no way she can do it, because they normally receive a "memo" a month in advance about soft landing people. So I emailed, waiting on their response.

Now I maybe able to get away with this (I think) because due to the Winter Weather notice, I maybe able to get a later flight out of EWR and make a meeting for 10:00am on 12/18 and return later. Original return was at 7:00am.

We'll see what happens! Waiting on their email response.

In an earlier post he/she notes that they made the a.m. flight. It looks like the afternoon flight doesn't take off until tomorrow morning - and BDG8R is supposed to be returning back to TPA tomorrow - so though it would have solved the segment problem it would have crashed the mileage running schedule!

I am starting to wonder whether they use the MSP-SFO plane for the SFO-DTW route. With about 1.3 hour in between, that kind of makes sense, but would rather not have that happen to me tonight. At least the site is not showing any ridiculous delay (replacement sent?). No agents in sight though in gate area, passengers slowly accumulating.

Latest update: Flight inbound from DTW is delayed. They are expecting 11:30PM arrival, making it a 12:15AM-ish departure, and will be a close call to the 7:31AM connection. Also confirmed me for the 9:32AM DTW-TPA on first class.

Should've talked my way into getting the DL flight leaving at 11PM for ATL any other day. But that'd put me in 49979. Why bother taking the risk now.

Edit: GA had a blonde moment earlier. Flight arriving at 10:30PM, so I should make it.

PM Status - The last 5,000

How lenient is Delta if I'm within 5,000 of PM status at the end of 2008? Trying to decide whether I need to squeeze in an unnecessary end of year trip to qualify for PM in 2009.

Thanks!

Though this topic has been covered numerous times, I would take a flight if PM means a lot to you.

5000 is significant. Last year I think it was about a 1000 mile wiggle room but I could be mistake. A search will find that post.

I've heard anecdotally through a CR that they will sometimes bump people that are a "couple hundred" away from PM. I would say that's a large stretch if you're 5000 shy. I'd book a flight.

Gotta love this time of year. Santas, sleigh bells, and "I'm short xxx miles threads."

Can I put $25.00 worth of gas in my car if I only have a $20.00? I do gas up at the same station all year, so my loyalty should be rewarded

The importance being, gas stations don't pretend to have loyalty programs, whereas airlines do. (I do mean "pretend" too, as any program that makes more money than it gives back in benefits is hardly a display of loyalty.)
