I can't find any explicit HA redemption information on www.delta.com, but I'd expect one can only redeem SkyPesos on routes that Hawaiian offers where there is no direct Delta competition (i.e. Delta flies LAX<->HNL roundtrips).

KVS shoes no HNL-LAX low F availability for that date (Feb 22). * inter-island * HNL-PPT * HNL-PPG * HNL-SYD * HNL-MNL All other routes are ineligible for mileage earning or booking. As such, you can not book HA flights on the following routes (any class): * HNL-NRT * HNL-KIX * HNL-FUK * HNL-ICN * HNL-LAX/OAK/LAS/SFO/PDX/LAX/etc. (all Hawaii - US mainland routes) Hint: even when you can book HA first class, don't bother. It is really bad seating. As bad as DL domestic, if not worse. Next to no recline, no leg room, really not worth it. One of the worst long-haul FC/BCs out there (right up there with CI as the truly worst). Food though is good, but then again already in HA economy food is far better (and free, included) as in DL BE HNL-ATL. Ref.: http://skymilesoffers.delta.com/airline_partners.php#HA "Other: Eligible routes include inter-island flights within the State of Hawaii and flights between Honolulu and Sydney, Australia and Honolulu and Manila, Philippines and Honolulu and Pago Pago, Samoa and Honolulu and Papeete, Tahiti. HNL-HND is ineligible for mileage accrual." Accrual is same as spending. Though DL doesn't list it so (either way as yes or no, leaving it ambigous), HNL-KIX, HNL-FUK and HNL-ICN are also ineligible for accrual or spending. |

HA is not true F. HA F is domestic F seating for long haul routes. Really one of the very worst, right up there with CI. Even in the new A330s they put in those same uncomfortable and tight seats. I just really hope they don't make the same mistake for their new A350 XWBs of which they've ordered quite a few (apparently planning for HNL - EU and such ultra long haul flights).

Has P even been around since the days of NW? It's not a Delta fare class.

I know this is a few months old, but I am flying on a P class ticket tomorrow, so it definitely is a Delta fare class.
The "bought/flown fare class" is the only part of the Delta IT that works ... gone are the days of VDBs into F and 150% MQM on a T fare. |
I just booked a last minute trip from MSP to PBI and Delta.dumb had first only a few dollars more than coach, so I treated myself to first. I'm probably going to have to SDC on the way back, and the flight I want only has first class seats open. So I checked my ticket to see what fare class I had, and it turned out to be the mythical P class. It appears to be a discounted first class fare, but I can't tell where it sits in the fare class hierarchy. I searched P Class fares and found this ancient thread and couldn't resist posting. P class tickets do exist!
|
From cwsi.net:
P fare is a Y fare with an instant upgrade. Y-UP passengers (A and P fares) are re-accommodated as first class passengers. If F is not available you can sit in coach and get compensated with a Delta travel voucher. |
P is not necessarily Y-UP literally. It's more likely to be H-UP, M-UP, or B-UP. P fares fall between F and A and can be refundable (more expensive) or not. Many domestic markets have at least one refundable P and at least one nonrefundable P fare.
