Has P even been around since the days of NW? It's not a Delta fare class.

When I was given an op-up from T on SYD-LAX I still received credit for my T fare.

I see P fares a lot, at least domestically, when I'm searching on ExpertFlyer.

P class checked baggage allowance

Hi, I have a First class booking (P) on Delta Calgary to Reagan. The eticket says baggage allowance 0 but the Delta website says first class and business class have an allowance of 70 lb. Do I have a free allowance with a P class or do i have to pay extra?
thanks

First/Business class is 3 bags at 70 lbs each.

On your check in if you use OLCI, you should be able to have an option for bags check in. You should have a pull down and "free" in the bags for check in area.

P Class SDC Question

I am booked in P class. I want to do SDC. Do I need to find flights that are still selling P seats or just F seats. The Delta agent today said the flights need to have P seats for sale ... but when I booked the ticket the earlier Delta agent said I can do SDC and stay in the F cabin as long a the flight is selling at least F1 (even if P0).

Which is correct? Thanks you FlyerTalk friends

Has to be P. You really bought an economy ticket that was upgraded. The only way to SDC to FC is to buy FC in the forst place (as foolish as that statement sounds...but then again the whole lack of transparency on P fares is foolish)

im not sure that is correct. my understanding is that P fares are legit F cabin fares.

A fares on the other hand are usually with the QUP /YUP etc fare bases and are economy upgraded

No I can confirm P fares are -Up fares. It is in the fare rules and somebody found them and posted them. There are a bunch of threads on this. P fares do not get a guaranteed F seat for IROps either.

Not sure if there is a consistent 'rule'. I've SDC'd on both A and P fares when there was the flight I wanted was showing F2P0A0 and didn't have a problem, though I've always done it at a skyclub. You'd think it would be similar to how normal coach SDC works... if there is Y1 then you get a seat regardless of your fare bucket, even though occasionally an agent tries to say that you need to SDC into your same bucket (such as L into L, but L is always 0 last minute) Like many things, I'd guess it depends on the agent you get and probably some on your status... being a DM should help too.

Oh and regarding P/F fares... yes they are x-UP, however I've also seem some F that are x-UP as well.

I just asked the MEM Sky Club agent if I could SDC my P fare. After being told there were no open seats (no surprise on a Thursday), I decided to ask her how the P fare SDC works. The agent admitted that they were still learning about the new fare, however, she said that she could SDC me into an H fare since that's what she viewed my ticket as and then I'd hit the normal upgrade list. The other option is to put me on the standby list for first, but would clear after the other 50 people on the upgrade list.

Seems like it's still an agent by agent experience. Call 3 times and you'll get what you're looking for...

P disclaimer:

"This is an Economy Class fare with instant upgrade to First Class. There is a historical x% chance you will lose your First Class seat for various reasons. If this happens, we know you will be angry. Please write in and we will try to pacify you in the unlikely event that happens. Also, should your plans change and you wise to utilize the Same Day Confirm option, you will be thrust back into our newly improved Economy Class unless a similar instant upgrade fare bucket is available at which point we will gladly reupgrade you to First Class."

I guess there are still a lot of agents that aren't sure how SDC works. Your ticket says P (First) so you should be put there. If there is an open F seat but no P available, then stick you in F or overbook P. Same thing how it works for coach... if you have a cheapo ticket and there is only Y left, you can still change. Don't need the original booking class to be available.

Are F awards on HA (P class) bookable w/ SkyMiles?

According to EF, there is F availability on HA flight 10 HNL-LAX (it shows P7). Can this be booked using SkyMiles? Has anyone booked F awards on HA?

KVS shoes no HNL-LAX low F availability for that date (Feb 22).
