DL can and will do whatever they want, and that's fine. My concern is there are already a ton of agents that are clueless. Massive changes may just overwhelm the training system.

Time to change the “FLY DELTA JETS” sign to “FLY AMEX JETS”.

Simplest system might just be a combination of MQM plus Amex spend. FO 50k. GM 100k. PM 200k. DM 300k. But for international customers who cannot get a DL Amex maybe 25%-50% of these numbers?

Those thresholds will definitely thin out the ranks. Funny.

this is basically the whole thread. "something might change" and everything beyond that is just people making stuff up, there's really no point in this thread until we actually know what the changes are.

Some many SkyMilers are sitting on pile of MQMs from pandemic...not sure this would work.

They would be stupid to raise elite levels (apart from perhaps the MQD waiver).

Business travel is still weak

Planes are full, there are fewer flights due to reductions in pilots, you don't need as many elites clammoring for perks and free stuff when you can fill the planes up. Sure, the market will change at some point, but it hasn't yet and people have gone broke making predictions of when things will happen (e.g. we were "supposed" to be in the middle of a recession right now). Random people on the internet always think they know what direction gas prices and inflation are going in.

People keep saying this, yet they've gone back to rolling over only the previous year's MQMs, haven't they?

not sure why people are so addicted to the concept of distance as relevant for these things, it was used when these programs were created because actual spend was orders of magnitude harder to track than it is now. If these programs had never been invented and were just now being created today, there is no way anyone would use distance. It's just completely irrelevant now, it's no longer the best proxy for what these programs actually need to track.

Agreed. But if you don’t use MQMs then how will million miler work??

Not sure what UA is doing, but AA is continuing to track MM status via distance.

miliion miler is “life of the program”, right? Perhaps they’ll end the program!

Like with AA and UA, it will probably still accumulate in the background and still be based on distance. Whether there will be any "class of service bonus" or any "500 mile minimum" would remain to be seen and may only be discernible if one keeps close tabs on their MMer balance and tracks how the balance changes after a given flight.

Hopefully my schedule continues to keep me on pace for hitting 1MMer this year, in case there are any chances to MMer beginning next year (if there are indeed major program changes).

they can still count MQMs without using them for status calculations, there's literally nothing that would prevent this technically or legally

So then PM/DM will come strictly from dollars spent on either DL/ST tickets or Delta Amex spend? What about current MQM balances?
