1 MQD for every $10 spent on Reserve cards, 1 MQD for every $20 on Platinum cards.

So based on the current MQM rates, 30k in spend got MQD waiver and 20% of the required MQMs for platinum. So 55k to get silver (one DL plat, one DL reserve boost), 110k to get gold 150k in spend to get platinum with no flying. 250k to get it with Diamond (on two reserve cards). So based on the numbers it looks like $10 in DL Amex Spending = 1 MQD, and they have increased the spending requirements by ~10% for Silver and Gold, 20% to get Platinum and 40% to get Diamond. So definitely going to reduce elite ranks further.

Also MQMs are earned at 10k per 25k, I imagine they won't redeem for more than half that. so lets say every 10k in rollover MQM will get you 1000 MQDs or 5k skymiles.

Free agency or switching to oneworld especially given my recent London move ain't looking too shabby right now. Anyone seen anything in terms of qualification for international members because that's the only thing that'd make me stay with DL is if that were different.

Not yet but I'd expect the exemption will go away. United ended theirs with the move to PQP.

Interesting. So does this make getting a DL Reserve strictly worse than buying a membership outright? That seems a bit backwards considering how other airlines handle it.

Yeah, and doesn’t really seem like it’s going to meet Ed’s goal of doubling the amount of spend in the AmEx/Delta partnership.

I know AmEx has really excellent data sets and really excellent data scientists playing with them and all, and already has a sense of how it’s played out with the AmEx Platinum lounge changes but I think they’ve miscalculated on this one.

Have been texting my sister and she’s already planning on downgrading her Reserve to a SkyMiles Platinum come the new year.

Should the speculation thread be closed in favor of the new threads about the confirmed changes?

Speaking as an international - I would certainly be happy if they kept the MQD exemption, considering that the MQM requirement is being eliminated 😜

So if you spent $30k on a Reserve, you used to get an MQD waiver. Now you get 3k MQD? Lol

Well duh, who wouldn't if you're currently exempt from the harder to meet qualification? But if we're moving to a world where the only MQDs are the only metric, and if internationals are exempt, it approaches a divide by zero problem. lol

What I don't understand is the purported 2/1/24 start date of the SkyClub access restrictions - I paid my annual fees based on the promise of unlimited access for the year; how do they get around that? I wonder if it'll stay unlimited for cardholders until their renewal dates.

The change will start in Feb 2025. 2/1/2024 is the date to start counting the spending for 2025.

On the plus side I am going to save a lot of money by no longer having an Amex Platinum card or bothering to chase anything related to Delta status.

I dont see any Skyclub Access restrictions taking effect 2/1/24. The changes to the DL Reserve and Amex Platinum are effective 2/1/2025.

Status was fun while it lasted. Time to move more over into the convertible points realm. AmEx Everyday Preferred, here I come since I’d be scraping to make GM in 2025.
