Row 1 on DL 738 & 739

Does anyone know if Delta's 737-800 and 737-900ER have foot wells in row 1? I prefer a bulkhead, but not if there is no place to put my feet.

Unfortunately the return is Comfort+ on the 737-900ER. Can anyone recommend the best Comfort+ seats? I know the first row of Comfort+ is great when the divider doesn't go all the way to the floor. I checked SeatGuru, but their data is often old and unreliable.

Thanks!

Row 1 on the 737-800 and 737-900 are tight. It’s not comfortable and that’s from someone who usually doesn’t mind or even prefers bulkheads.

In C+, there’s no wall in front of Row 10 (10A/B/C) while there is a hardwall in front row of Row 11 on the other side (11D/E/F) though I don’t recall if the legroom there is as restrictive as the legroom in Roe 1 in F. For Row 10, only A is available for selection in advance. 10B and 10C are blocked and saved for passengers with disabilities and if unassigned in advance will be assigned to someone waiting on a seat assignment at the gate. I’ve never tried calling to see if I could get an agent to assign me to 10C.

Thanks for the fast response. What seats would you recommend in First? There are two of us. Thanks!

no footwells on either 738/739, and the 739 bulkhead location gives ridiculously little legroom for Row 1

all other F seats are basically equal; 5C/D are nice because of the closet behind

no hard divider as the C+ “bulkhead” (10A/B/C on 739); however these seats have fixed armrests for the tray tables, and retractable video monitors

I was auto-assigned 10C on an SDC last year even though it was Xed out on the seat map

I don’t know DL’s tendency to do day-of-departure tail swaps from a 739 to a 738, but on the Alaska board there have been numerous posts from pax (paid, not upgraded) who were bumped out of seats in the last row of F in those circumstances

5 C/D is a good seat and the ones I prefer on the 737-900. It may be in front of a closet but it has good enough recline. Biggest plus is not having anyone behind you.

Seconded - for the same reasons.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, I like @seat_5D so much I actually used it for one of my IG handles.

As noted by previous posters, my favorite seats on the 737-900 are 5C/D. It’s nice to recline and not have to worry about impacting anyone behind you.

Everything else is the same. The only changing factor in the calculus here is if it’s a meal flight at which point maybe being in the middle of the cabin is preferred so you’re covered whether the FAs start meal service orders from the front or the back.

I can confirm from personal experience that it is always best not to take row 5 in case of an equipment change.

Are there footwells in any current DL aircrafts? I recall footwells in older NW 757-200 aircrafts, but those fleet have since been retired.

Jiburi

....and if I remember correctly, Northwest Airlink, Mesaba/ARJ85 had a mini footwell.....

How big are you feet? My wife never minds the lack of footwell but my size 14 sure do.

It turns out I am on a 738 in First JFK-LAS. I chose 4D, the last row, which seems to be what the majority recommend. Delta has made many changes to this trip, but they have been schedule, not equipment changes. My traveling companions are flying out later on a 739ER and I have passed along the comments from here. On the return we are traveling together in C+ on a 739ER. Delta will not unblock row 10, I tried. Any C+ recommendations for the three of us?

I think when I last flew the E75 there were foot wells for row 1, at least the side I was sitting on.

Yes there are but only on one side, and not always the same side.

+1. 5C/D (or A/B) are my favorite -- A/B the C+ folks are far enough behind you it's not a big deal.

As for Row 1 it really is terrible. Pre-COVID I was flying SYD - LAX - RDU in Y and I cleared into F for LAX - RDU at the gate into 1B. It was miserable, way less legroom than my exit row seat on the 777 so I avoid at all costs now.
