An out of control passenger was subdued by the other passengers. I'm not sure why some are having such a hard time grasping the concept. If you try and hijack a plane or threaten the safety of the flight after 9/11 then there is a good chance you may not be alive by the time the flight is diverted and the authorities come onboard. A comedian referenced these two Southwest incidents in one of his shows.

A gun is just a simple tool, nothing more, nothing less. It constantly amazes me that people are just fine with someone in a particular costume having a gun, but anyone else and they lose their mind.
People are people, whether they wear a uniform and carry a badge or they’re a pilot, or a construction worker. One is not inherently more deserving or qualified than the other.
No reason to overly complicate the matter with subjective feelings.
