I keep a running spreadsheet to track upgrades
DM out of ATL I have a 28% upgrade rate in 2019, pretty embarrassing as 90% of these flights were on connection flights that are less then 1 hour in flight time.

RDU-ATL-HNL 12/10
HNL-ATL-RDU on Xmas day.
Entire itin cleared into C+ on booking.
Out never cleared into first, C+ aisle on a fully sold 330 wasn’t too bad.
Return - ATL-RDU cleared into first at 5 day window.
HNL-ATL I was 1/12 for 9 seats at checkin about 20 hours before flight. I stayed as 1 of xx throughout but the number of available seats dropped down to 0. By an hour before departure I was 1/15 for 2.
At T-45, 3 (including me) people cleared into D1. The system worked.

Dec 18, PM.
RDU>ATL lol for 0.
ATL>JFK surprisingly cleared at window. Gave it up to IRROP change to ATL>LGA, and was moved to C+ at gate.

PM upgraded 4 days before flight for BOS-MSP on 12/31.
I rarely get upgrades on that route, but I guess 4:30pm on New Year’s Eve isn’t a high demand flight time for most medallions!

PM +1 cleared at the gate for OAK-SLC last Saturday evening. Was booked 8/12 21+ days in advance, so I was quite surprised but we took the last two seats with only 4 total on the upgrade list.

Hello Keyser,
RE: Case Number 12345678
Thank you for contacting us through delta.com. We are sorry for the delay in responding to your message.
Thank you for your email inquiry about complimentary upgrades. I can understand your frustration for not clearing for a complimentary upgrade. There are a lot of variables that could have played a part in why your seat was not upgraded and I would not be able to verify exactly what happened. In future, I would recommend either speaking directly to the gate agent if possible if it appears you should be clearing for a complimentary upgrade and you still are not. I know in this instance you did attempt to speak to someone twice. This must have been a system issue. I apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for your loyalty and being a Diamond Medallion.
Sincerely,

Lowly Silver/FO (just missed gold but will hit it for sure this year and possibly platinum) here but it’s my first time hitting any status so I’ve pleasantly surprised at my upgrade success to at least C+ :
10/16 DEN-JFK red eye to F at check in (first time as a silver)
10/17 JFK-DCA to C+ at gate 2/2
10/28 DCA-ATL nothing (can’t even remember the list was so long)
10/28 ATL-COS ditto
11/24 IAD-ATL C+ At check in
11/24 ATL-HSV C+ At check in
11/28 HSV-ATL C+ at check in
11/28 ATL-IAD C+ at check in, 2/3 for F and cleared while boarding
12/4 DCA-MSP-PHX paid F due to good FCM offers and what would clearly be elite full flights
12/6 PHX-DTW F on red eye (can’t remember when it cleared)
12/7 DTW-DCA nothing
Not too shabby when I think about how far down the pecking order I am although I get that some of those are because they aren’t the most popular routes or were at less busy times.
