I have an upcoming flight on an A220 which I am super excited for (chose this plane over an A320). I have three questions that I have not been able to figure out an answer to. Any input is appreciated.

1. I understand that seats 16CDE offer extra leg room because of the limited recline of seats 15CDE (especially seat 16E because there is no seat in front). Is there any benefit to sitting in seats 16AB (16A shows up as preferred on Delta seat map)? I am currently in 13A but have the option to sit in 16A.

2. Further, 13A is not showing up on the Delta seat map as a preferred seat. Is there going to be an unwanted surprise in this seat that I am unaware of?

3. Is there a coat closet on this plane? On the Delta seat map no coat closet is showing up (for example the A320 does show a closet on the map).

Aircraft swaps?

I fly A220 routes a lot, and now have had swaps for a B717 and A320. And seeing E170s back on routes for future bookings that were being fully serviced by A220.

Is the fleet tight in terms of routes being covered (deliveries slower) and Delta is spreading it out? Or are some planes being taken out of service for repairs. I’ve also had four (long) mechanical delays since the A220 has entered service.

DL loves to tinker with plane assignments in general. And it's a complicated puzzle cause the plane rarely just goes back and forth between 2 cities, it flies a whole bunch of routes in a single day.

The A220s have had growing pains, but that is somewhat common with a new fleet type. The mechanical problems should taper off hopefully.

I believe deliveries are on schedule, but I'm not certain

I'm on one of these now in First Class, and aside from the new plane smell I'm not impressed. First world problems I know but if you're in an aisle seat a normal laptop bag won't fit underneath the seat in front of you. The bulkhead row looks painfully uncomfortable with worse leg room than Comfort Plus, maybe even Economy. Thankfully I'm not sitting in one of them.

I would say not being able to place a laptop bag under the seat is actually a serious design flaw, especially if it’s for all aisle seats (in addition to bulkhead seats which always have that limitation).

It really is, though it would be worse for the window seats, as it would make getting your bag from the bin more of an annoyance for you and your seatmate.

The center console between the seats extends downward all the way almost to the floor and the leg is in the middle of the aisle seat, leaving no room on either side to put your bag. The placement of the leg makes it awkward for you feet too, as you have to put one foot on either side with no way to cross them.

I've done one SEA-SJC in C+ and one in F in the last couple of weeks and, while nice, I would say it's not anything hugely special. This might more reflect the high expectations I have in flying a DL mainline flight in general, which I think others on this board might be carrying in their judgement as well.

I had no problem fitting my laptop backpack under the seat, and I was very happy with the size and mechanics of the tray table as I got some work done in both cabins. The wireless internet was fantastic, and the IFE worked very well. The cabin feels light, airy and very "solid" in a way that the older E175s have never been able to do.

The flight attendant in F mentioned that they are still going through a lot of teething problems - he mentioned that it was the first time in his entire A220 experience that the security video had properly played on the IFE, and that there was some other little kinks that were being worked out.

For the 1-5 hour flight, it matches up very well against the A319/320/321, with fewer middle seats, and I would happily tweak my schedules to fly it again compared to a 739 or a 717, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

It was an observation, not a complaint. The person I was quoting mentioned the FA said the safety video never worked. Mine didn't either.
