The Y medallion isn't getting an upgrade with that many additional people on the PNR (unless you spilt the PNR after check-in, but then you've got companions on their own for the return).

Overall it went much smoother but I also changed my tactic. Instead of dragging everyone up via sky priority checkin (7 total) my wife and I took bags to max us out. 3 for me and some reason two (not 3) for her. Then I only brought 2 other people up for two bags per so 9 bags for free but less people. The rest (3) already had boarding passes and stayed out of the way.

The firearm process was different than mco. In slc declare, add the tag and they escort you to a tsa acreening area in the open. From there they swab and hand inspect your bag and tell you good to go. I had a pelican case full of stuff (lenses, binoculars, radios, etc) plus the gun. He took it all out and checked it.

Even with that I prefer that to a just hang out some indeterminate amount of time and check with me later while I still check people in which is basically the mco process. At least slc one is more clear.

I thought it was odd my family got pre check both ways. My parents are 70 and 66 so they usually do but my daughters are 22 and 20. They where on the same reservation as my parents so maybe that is why.

They did swap planes at the last minute slc to atl. Got bumped off a 757 200 to a airbus a321. I picked this flight because of the 757 when the changed time on the direct return to be a red eye. Not excited about the change but it is what it is. The flight changes cost me a night in the cabin in island park since I did not want to get up at 5am to make the flight in slc we left day early so I paid for lodging in two places last night. :-) Was a great trip though. So much wildlife.

Btw slc airport was a ghost town at security today around 1120am.

Sitting in sky club now.

FWIW the A321 is a nicer aircraft up front than the reconfigured 757s.

claustrophobic some not terrible so the boarding for fc on 757s is so much better for me. Not terrible enough for me to board last but a jammed aisle of people and bags makes me anxious so I will fly out of my way for boarding via 2L. :-)

Baggage Allowance

Hello everyone. I normally fly AA so I'm more familiar with their rules, so I'd rather ask here about an upcoming DL flight.
Soon I'll be on a MIA/ATL/DFW flight in W.
I'm a Skyteam Elite Plus (via AR - Platino).
What is the current (free) checked baggage allowance on these domestic legs due to my Skyteam status?
I will most likely be checking 2 pieces of 40lbs each.
Thanks for the feedback!

According to Delta:
"...your first checked bag fee is waived with Delta Medallion Status or as a SkyTeam® Elite & Elite Plus Member."
from: https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...p/checked.html

Which sort of aligns with SkyTeam's definition:
"SkyTeam’s new extra baggage policy for Elite members is as follows:
Weight concept – 10Kg extra for Elite members and 20Kg for Elite Plus members
Piece concept – One extra piece for Elite and Elite Plus members
In some cases, depending on the itinerary, restrictions might apply. Customers can contact their SkyTeam member airline for information about their specific itinerary."
from: https://www.skyteam.com/en/about/pre...elite-members/

So, normally, no baggage unless Silver Medallion or greater on Delta. But with STE, you get +1 baggage, as Delta promotes (0+1=1)
And those would be 50lb bags, so you might be pushed for $30 (or $40?) for the second bag.

But I would take a print out of the SkyTeam Elite rules from Delta's website. I'd be surprised that all agents know that.

Agent shouldn't need to know anything. The system should calculate it automatically.

"should"...agreed.

But an issue that I deal with is for a long layover to clear a carnet. The 'system' will only kick out the luggage if the layover is over 12 hours, but the Int'l CoC states that if the connection exceeds 6 hours, the passenger MAY reclaim luggage, if it exceeds 12 hours, the pax MUST reclaim luggage.
I intentionally have long layovers for this as I'm legally bound to check a carney at customs of my last state-bound connection point where I'll be handling the baggage - usually ATL or LAX. But every time, I have to convince the gate agents (who know me very well in our small town airport - but I only make this int'l hop 1-2/year) that they have to short check my luggage. The system knows 12 hours, not 6.

Back to the original question - If the non Delta pax puts in a ST number that is recognized by the system - then sure - all will be good and dandy with the one bag. But if not, or no number entered, just a card at the counter, I doubt many agents know all of ST rules vs DL only rules...in my experience.

Similar experiences I'm having on my annual SYD trip next week - agents aren't aware of DL and VA 'partnership' when it comes to reciprocity of luggage, much less lounge access. EVERY time, I have to get them to get a supervisor who finally grabs a red binder and looks up the baggage allowance for DL DM on VA bird (booked by DL).

So yes, the system "should" work - but more times than not, I've seen that the advertising published on the cumulative websites, do NOT match the programming of the 'system' - having paperwork backing it up, causes them to to the looking/over-riding that are promised by marketing.
