Dang. It would be nice if DL gave members and Reserve card holders a food voucher at check-in to make up for this. Is it just closed weekends, or weekdays too?

it appears it will be open Mon-Fri. Just closed Sat and Sun. I would have appreciated warning before I got to the airport. I likely would have just packed food from home and slept an extra 30 min.

At least it's still open on weekdays. I suspect that there would be a lot of pissed off members of Congress otherwise. Once I go FA I'll probably buy a UA Club membership thanks to DL's horrible changes.

I used to be opposed to them moving National Hall into the sterile area, but I'm hoping that will allow a PP lounge to come in.

Yea, it'll open up lounge options much more for us. Plus the elimination of the dreaded 35X gate for us AA flyers (once the regional pier opens).

I flew out of DCA on Wednesday and Thursday 1/10 and 1/11. There was no indication that the club would be closed this weekend and the next two weekends until I got back this afternoon, and saw the sign at the elevator.

Flew into DCA late last night and there was no sign saying the SC would be closed for the next couple of weekends.

Thanks for the weekend closing warning. I’m guessing new toilets might require some significant changes that can’t be done overnight. Good for me, no travel until mid-Feb.

I’m at DCA right now and was greeted with a sign that the airport skyclub is closed the next three weekends. Figures since my friends was on a flight an hour earlier on America and I went to the airport with him in the same Uber At least they have free wifi and my flight appears to be on time

Just out of curiosity - why were you opposed to moving National Hall into the sterile area? Seems like nothing but a benefit to passengers. There are not very many concessions at all near the Delta gates, this will allow easier access to those in the Mall as well as the (IMO) better offerings in the two AA piers. Also, allows folks to access the DL club if flying AA or the AA club if flying DL, etc. Seems like a win-win.

I was in the club Monday evening (2/5/18) after a return trip. I'm not sure what they did in the club the three weekends it was closed. The bar, kitchen and restrooms have not been touched. The construction wall on the right after entering the club is still there. One of the bartenders told me that all construction was supposed to be completed by April, but she didn't believe it.

WWADS occasionally makes some tongue in check remarks regarding DCA, I hope this is one as I don't see how that opinion is defensible. Opening up is a major benefit to all passengers. Yes, we will have to deal with a some time of construction, but worth it in the end I hope.

Count me as someone who is hoping AMEX announces a CL as soon as National Hall post TSA begins.

No I actually did used to be opposed, since I’m always skeptical of government construction work, and it’s such a nice space. I’m convinced now that it needs to be done though.

I feel the same, and my shift to the converted has greatly accelerated since a shift to AA for my most frequent route, along with the hell of 35X,

In the sky club now. Just when I thought they couldn’t make it smaller, they did. Bar is gone. Buffet is gone. There are temporary replacements, but they are taking up even more of the space that was seating. SRO again on a Friday afternoon.

Yes, yesterday at around the time you posted, I walked in, used the restroom, and walked out and to the gate where it was quieter, more comfortable, and didn't feel so much like a bus stop.

KDCAflyer Feb 17, 2018 4:32 am

It’s a bad sign when a DCA concourse is quieter and less crowded than the SC.
