Question for the posters in this thread...Are the emails to First Class passengers random? Who gets them and who doesn't?

Thanks!

I got them every time I had a confirmed F seat this year, except ATL-EZE-ATL in D1 in March.

Good to know...I am not sure why the IT folks at Delta can't figure out how to just make it part of the booking process or available in your reservation like AA does. I am not saying AA is the best thing out there...but they do have that right.

AFAIK the emails are sent out a bit after T-72 to everyone who is ticketed and confirmed in FC on DL flights with meal service (still excluding some international routes?) and has an email address on the reservation. This might mean having booked through DL or having a DL FF number on the reservation. If the booking uses a codeshare (or maybe is ticketed on some other airline's stock), I wouldn't be surprised if one isn't given the option to preorder.

At this point, it looks like elites can call DL and do the preorder by phone (including getting details on the meal choices) from about T-72 to T-24.

Twitter should be able to do it too -- had a recent flight with Mom where I received the email and she didn't, and I was able to pre-select on her behalf via Twitter after verifying the traveler info.

GRILLED CORNED BEEF REUBEN SANDWICH

Does having a connecting flight in the reservation make a difference (i.e. does the email arrive before EACH flight or does it arrive depending on the connection time of the 2nd flight?)

Haven't received it for my first flight and we're at about T-65 for that one.

FWIW I recently received separate emails for connecting flights at around T-70h of each flight.

Thanks. The latest I've gotten an email was between T-69 and T-68, so I went ahead and contacted Twitter support. we'll see how that goes...

It is too bad this seems to still be so buggy, I wish they could just add it to reservations to make it easier. We'll see what happens with the connecting flight email if/when it arrives.

Well, Twitter support was immensely helpful (provided that the preselection properly works).

at first, they provided generic choices but then said they could see the specific menu.

i not only was offered to preorder my flight 3 days from now, but also my return flight over a week from now. The choices were standard D1 options so I made sure they weren't accidentally offering special meals.

In something like 20 FC flights this year I have never received a single preselect email. These were either booked or upgraded ahead of time, with an email address that works for other Delta communications. No one has been able to tell me why this is happening.

Does this include DL connection? I am currently 100% on international, and outbound mainline flights, but have not received preorder on return flights and have not been on connection in a while.
