Complaint Miles
Just got my first batch of Complaint Miles (CMs) and now I am curious as to the experience of others.
I filed a complaint at Delta.com yesterday after the FA in F served me a hot breakfast burrito on an ice-cold plate. Delta's response: "I understand your disappointment with our flight attendant working in First Class for serving a hot breakfast Burrito on an ice cold plate. I'm really sorry you felt this way. I realize you deserve much better service." "As a goodwill gesture, I’m adding 5,000 bonus miles to your SkyMiles account." I realize these are RMs and it would take many similar complaints to collect a significant amount, but like CC miles every little bit counts. How often can I file a complaint and get more CMs? Does Delta ever awards more than 5,000 CMs for a single complaint? More data points please... |
The Supreme Court has answered your question. Here. Unanimously.

I know many will disagree with me, but this is part of the problem with the Sky Miles program, the giving out of large sums of miles for trivial problems. I once got 10,000 miles for the RJ running out of Gin on a Friday night since it was drunk on the inbound flight. While I gladly took the miles it was dumb.
I received nothing when my flight was cancelled and I arrive home a day later. Save those PR miles for real problems, not running out of Gin or a cold plate. |
Complaint Miles
+1 cold plate is a silly complaint in my opinion.

You're account will eventually be notated as a complainer. As mentioned above, most here would suggest saving your complaints for the big(ger) stuff. |

What may be silly is awarding 5,000 miles for the complaint. A $100 discount on a future flight would be better as it would benefit both Delta and the customer. |

So, overall, I was greatly praising them. The reply was an apology and 10k skymiles. I was afraid of getting a black mark for being a complainer for that. This guy is beyond the pale for trying to game the system for as many miles as he can. |

I don't find such a complaint silly. It's like serving white wine in a hot glass. No FA should be that stupid.

Delta, IMO, isn't in the restaurant business. FAs are there for our safety, and to some degree, our comfort.

I think it's quite pompous to call a FA STUPID for this! |
I don't think this is egregious enough to warrant a complaint. What's been complaint worthy has been lost luggage where they tell you to wait around for it while it was already on a plane to my final destination (final leg was cancelled).
|
Most of my complaints lately are the priority bags coming out last. I also complained about lazy flight attendants and mixing sky priority boarding with people who checked their bags at the gate, which slowed down the boarding process. Most get 7,500 miles.

Just tell the FA about the problem and ask her to warm the plate for you.
Or, put the burrito on a napkin and put the plate under your fat (or skinny little) *** for a few minutes, then replace the burrito. This has got to be one of the most ridiculous formal complaints I have ever heard of. |

The 5000 points was probably an award for most outlandish complaint of the day. |
