I hope someone at HQ is reading this thread...hell...I might as well share it with some of the folks I know so that it can be researched and his Skymiles account can be flagged appropriately. Complaining over a cold plate is silly. Actively seeking advice on how to defraud DL out of more miles is borderline criminal and SURELY against the TOS of SkyMiles.

Sorry, I'm not a lawyer, but, if Delta receives a complaint, and deems it to be legitimate, and CHOOSES to pay out a few valuable SkyMiles, I don't think any court would consider this fraud.

If they decide the complainer ISN'T legit, they can surely reject the complaints as a nuisance. I don't see any fraud!

Good lord......the most ridiculous complaint ever.

The complaint and pay out are both outlandish.

I'm sure Delta is aware of the complaint and of Delta's decision to award miles based on it.

I started this thread some time ago: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...er-thread.html

Seems like this complaint might be good fodder for it.

That said Delta hands out miles like they do hot burritos on cold plates. When I send in a complaint, it has substance (IMHO), and if applicable I also offer suggestions to fix the problem. I rarely ask for compensation and if I do is it for Delta dollars with a particular amount (and it has been given).

For the OP take note: http://thepointsguy.com/2014/04/us-s...equent-flyers/

I am assuming Delta gave the OP 5000 miles to get him out of their hair. Sometimes it's just easier to hand out a few miles to shut someone up.

That is one of the best responses I have seen. Hope the OP was not serious.

I just assumed the OP was a joke. It wasn't? :0

I got 10,000 when I called to complain about IRROPS handling.

Long story short, lack of available maintenance staff caused a 100-minute delay and I missed my connection in MSP. They got me booked on the first flight in the AM.

They put me up in an AmericInn about 8 miles from MSP. Not only was it a scuzzy hotel, there are about 30 hotels closer to the airport. I also asked the Sky Club representative who gave me the hotel voucher for a meal voucher. She said that Delta didn't do that any more. At check-in, the woman in front of me had a meal voucher from Delta.

You all do know that Delta rev management keeps track of customers with a Yelp styled rating...

It ranks each pax with 1-5 stars, and tracks number of bags delays, flight delays, number of complaints, number of upgrades received this year. Also keeps track of your MQD's.

Your milage compensation is determined by the factors above.

Your milage compensation is determined by the factors above.

Bag delays: a couple of actual delays (delivered later), plus a few 20+ - minute ones.
Flight delays: few or none recently
Complaints: none recently, other than reporting the 20+ minutes for bags
Upgrades received: also few.

So I'm probably in a good position to collect miles for complaints, but I'm not going to generate anything just for the sake of complaining.

Thanks. Good to know that 24 complaints during an 8-month period is too many.

Interesting to see how many responders assumed I was trying to game the system.

After filing numerous compliments over the years this was my first-ever complaint. I was surprised to get any CMs and simply wondered how frequently this happened.

Regarding the nature of my complaint. Frankly, the FA needed a serious attitude adjustment, IMO. There were other issues, but the hot burrito on an ice cold plate was objective and easy to describe.

For those who think the solution is to send it back to the kitchen... Well, you have never worked in food service. Bad things happen to food that is "sent back."

I know, I know... WHFBHF.

I realize these are RMs and it would take many similar complaints to collect a significant amount, but like CC miles every little bit counts.

How often can I file a complaint and get more CMs?

Does Delta ever awards more than 5,000 CMs for a single complaint?

More data points please...

Yeah, I wonder where we ever would have gotten the idea that you're trying to game the system.
