EXISTING MILES CONVERSION: how will it work for 2015 program updates?
This is an interesting link from another post. According to the job posting Delta is moving to a "Fare Based Award Ticket Redemption" program. Given the changes for how miles will be earned in 2015 and lack of Award Chart this begs the question -- How will existing miles be converted into the new program?

WHAT HAPPENS TO MY EXISTING MILES?
Your existing miles are safe and are no different from the miles you will earn in 2015. In fact, going forward, your current miles will be even more valuable since youll be able to use them more easily with these new redemption options.

Raise your hand if you believe this corporate speak.
"... current miles will be even more valuable since you'll be able to use them more easily..."
Ease of use does not equate to redemption value.

The universal complaint about DL SM program was that miles were hard to spend. Simply fixing this would be a cost for DL. But fixing this while reducing SM earnings is a push.
So they reduced earnings but did so to the non-HVCs.
To make they game plan work, they must lose the image that SMs are hard to spend. Once they do this, then the program is a clear plus for a small but key segment of flyers.
BTW, you start off with a link to a post that complains that SMs are hard to use. Then you say ease of use does not matter. I really have no clue what your point is.

Am I the only one having flashbacks to the last time Delta promised our existing miles wouldn't change...

RDM = Redeemable Delta Miles or ReDeemable Miles
MQM = Medallion Qualifying Miles
Delta's new scheme slashes the ability of most flyers to EARN lots of RDM's.
Delta has not said what happens to our ability to SPEND the RDM's except to say that low 25,000 "mile" domestic awards are not going away. Most people don't expect good news with the new 2015 mileage redemption charts are published this fall.
MQM's do not change. The way you earn and keep elite status does not change.
So, effectively we fly miles to get status and we get these new mystery "miles", which are just points for redemptions.
