757 cabin refurbs reported done as of 12/22/17.
2Ku satellite WiFi upgrades completed 2/25/18. See post #897.
ViaSat IFC mods began July 2021 on 75D fleet. Completed April 2022 (excluding parked aircraft).
ViaSat IFC mods began Nov 2022 on 75H fleet. Completed April 2023.

Current configurations:
75S – C16W44Y108 (International/BOS/DCA/JFK-CA) flatbeds in C, WiFi, PTVs, winglets and ETOPS.
75D – F20W29Y150 AVOD, ISP, ViaSat WiFi, new lavs/seats/galleys/bins/PSUs/LED/*Sat TV on ex.-75X fleet* lighting and winglets.
75H – F20W29Y150 AVOD/Sat TV, ISP, ViaSat WiFi, new lavs/galleys/bins/PSUs/LED lighting, winglets and ETOPS.
75G – F20W41Y132 AVOD/Sat TV, ISP, WiFi, new lavs/seats/galleys/bins/PSUs/LED lighting, winglets and ETOPS.

I've found the seatmap to be quite reliable when it comes to lie-flat 757 vs regular 757. Of course, changes can always happen. But if the seatmap shows 5 rows, you're very likely getting a 75D/H plane.

6820 has been in ATL since 9/1 - is it possible that 75P mod is being done there, or is DL sticking to VQQ for those?

I guess that it hasn't gone into mods as it it flew from ATL>JFK this morning, and returns to ATL tomorrow morning!

Since there are only seven aircraft left to be modded, three 75Gs and four 757s, my guess is that Delta will only mod one aircraft at a time until completion in the spring. Delta has to focus on installing 2KU fleetwide and modding the ~50 A320s to receive Phase 2 mods.

Are the non-modded 757s contained to certain routes or do they operate freely throughout the system? I'm flying DTW-LAS in two weeks and AVOD would be nice.

Another reason I'm curious is I caught quite a few old-school 757s in the last year and a half on CMH-ATL or ATL-CMH (three of the last four to be retired, even, with a couple repeats!), which makes sense.

They generally stay in ATL and do short hops although I have seen them do ATL-DEN often and sometimes ATL-PHX but they mainly do short hops like ATL-PNS/JAX. I would assume your DTW-LAS flight would be on a 75D or 75H both of which have been modded with AVOD.

Or maybe not...according to a thread on airliners.net, DL will terminate NRT>GUM on January 8th 2018. So that just leaves NRT>ROR and NRT>GSN, and who knows how long these will operate. There won't be much DL presence at NRT soon.

If DL does indeed cut NRT-ROR and NRT-GSN and pulls the 757s out of NRT completely than what does DL do with a small sub fleet of 5 75Ps just floating around? (Which have 6 fewer seats than the 75D)

DL used to have so many different 757 subfleets, they must be experts at managing that .

It's not ideal, but these 5 planes cannot become 75D/H because the doors are not in the same location (and DL can't move the doors). So it is what it is. DL either flies a small subfleet or parks them in the desert (or converts them to 75S which is what I was hoping they'd do from the get-go). These 5 planes have the same door layout as the 75S do.

I was hoping for this too. It just seems strange because DL wanted to get rid of all of the small sub fleets and now we have this which seems permanent. I guess since these birds are ETOPS they could do what the old 75Vs (former Hawaii 757s) did and do the West Coast-Hawaii routes and move the 75Hs with the 75Ds (there the exact same configuration)

673 is a 75D but does NOT have Sat TV. Couldn't find it anywhere on the interface flying it DTW-LAS tonight.
