I've had pretty decent luck with Pinnacle. They flew the DCA-MEM CRJ900 flights; I also remember them having some of the CRJ700 flights on the DCA-BOS route of happy memory. I can't remember any of the FAs being anything other than courteous and helpful.
Hope they are successful under their new handle.

If this is just a callsign change, that's one thing. But a full-on company name change usually has some press releases or news coverage, neither of which I can find evidence of right now.
Plus, rebranding is not a cheap or quick exercise, and that would be surprising for a company that is already in the midst of a headquarters relocation and is just emerging from bankruptcy.
So, a little more info would be helpful.

Looks like an internet rumor at this point, as there is no press release from 9E (love that airline lingo).
Airliners.net has a thread on it; so does this site:

Thanks SuperCat - you beat me to it.
IMO the most important aspect of what's been happening is the replacement of 'Old Pinnacle' management with 'Old Mesaba' management. The name change is a key step in shedding the old Pinnacle policies and methodologies and implementing industry and regulatory compliance standards that were sorely neglected in the Old Pinnacle.

Whatever Pinnacle will called I don't expect the airline to be around for too long. Delta appointed Comair's CEO to run Pinnacle and we know what happened with Comair. Also, when is the last time you've heard of an airline buying a regional? All of the majors have been trying to divest them. Something is up.

The comparison to Comair may not be fair; there were some unique issues there including liability for the 2006 Lexington accident.

There would be hardly any airlines left if an airline had to liquidate after an accident. Pinnacle's safety record is far from clean. Check out Pinnacle 3701.

3701 is a bad example to compare Comair 5191 to as there were no passengers aboard the crash of 3701.

That doesn't negate the fact that Pinnacle had two pilots who unsuccessfully tried to exceed the performance limits of the aircraft. The NTSB reported that this practice occurred frequently among the pilot group and those who succeeded were part of the "FL 410 group". There were contributing factors to the Comair accident and it was truly a horrible accident. Pinnacle 3701 occurred due to utmost stupidity of both pilots. One of the pilots was one of my fellow alumni and I know he was taught against that kind of behavior. Pinnacle had to impose a max operating altitude of 37,000 ft to prevent their pilots from trying g this stunt again.

Divestiture may be part of the picture longer term, but DL needs the capacity right now and the plan is to shed the old CRJs and have an all CR9 fleet within the next couple of years.
