The extraneous fees that moved DL from the red to the black do not produce MQD credit for the consumer. Hmmmm... I guess this makes sense. There are trying to incentive the one area where they have not figured out how to make money... putting butts in seats and flying them from point A to point B. ;) Your last point makes sense except for the Amex spending "get out of jail free" card. so you spend 12k but only fly like 25k miles, your shite to Delta?

Even under the new plan there will be no shortage of FO's and Golds.
.... I think many people will reach the miles and fall short on MQD. Obviously many people are unhappy, but on a personal note, I am pleased to see that MQMs are not getting dinged for discounted fares. This was always my problem with AA. I would get a ton of "points" from business travel, but could never qualify via points because my personal travel and cheaper buckets. |

Only those at $0.05/MQM and below who don't spend $25K+ on a DL CC might face some challenges. Getting a DL CC and utilizing the many easy tricks to hit thresholds at little cost would be the easiest out for this crowd. You wouldn't even need to do it every year. You could get the card in Jan, meet the spend in a few months, then be qualified for almost two full years.

EDIT: If you are trying to say FO's (like UA Silvers) are treated poorly, that is a serparate issue. |

MQDs are the total of the SkyMiles member’s spend on Delta-marketed flights (flight numbers that include the “DL” airline code), inclusive of the base fare and applicable surcharges, but exclusive of government- imposed taxes and fees.
Flight spend for travel on other airlines ticketed through a Delta channel (featuring a ticket number beginning with “006”) will also be included in MQDs. Look, I understand that you are a bit emotional right now and that it is resulting in posting of misinformation, which is why I pointed it out so that you can correct it. As an internationally based PL, I'm kind of happy about this as I suppose it increases my upgrade chances, especially for US based flights as there will be fewer PLs and DMs to compete with, but as someone whose main options to Asia are KE and SU, then I'm pissed off.

How come this isnt up on the front page of DL.com yet?
Seems like a major change you would want people buying tickets to know about |

It is good for many I guess, but doesn't do anything for me. Like I said the MQD is not my problem. I am still at the back of the plane while someone spending 1/2 of what I do per year got my upgrade. I am not really sure how this benefits Delta, maybe it cuts the expenses a bit. I dont know.

This is actually a good point. If you are PLT or DIAMOND and can meet the spending thresholds this is probably a good thing for you personally. The MQD requirement will definitely thin out the heards at the PLT level.

I think you highlighted the incorrect information. As I noted, your claim that only tickets on 006-stock is incorrect.

This doesn't seem like that big a deal to me except for the MQM earning on partners which will require caution.
I bet nearly everyone on here spends or can easily spend $25k on a DL cc. |

I've purchased a $1,500 o/w ticket from CVG-DFW and only gotten one MQS and 750 or so MQM, but a $750 r/t ATL-CLT-LAX-NRT-BKK netted 23k MQM and 8 MQS. The former had to be more profitable to DL than the latter, even with the $600 they paid someone to get off the CVG-DFW flights. |
