DL/KL EC problem

I recently booked a trip on KLM.com from EWR to DEL via AMS and a return from DEL to EWR via AMS (all KL coded flights). The EWR-AMS and AMS-EWR are operated by Delta, so after calling them I was able to book my discounted (GM) Economy Comfort seats. However, when I go to KLM.com and enter my booking code it does not recognize me as Skyteam Elite + and doesn't give me the discounted Economy Comfort price. I called KLM directly and they said that the seats are free for Skyteam Elite + She assigned me free EC seats on my two KL flights. Now if I log in to DL.com and KLM.com all the correct seats are shown, but I am not convinced about these free KL EC seats. I am willing to pay for the seats, but every time I call KLM they keep saying everything is fine and that seats are for me. How do I make sure I actually get these KL EC seats?

I have the same issue! I just booked JFK-AMS on Delta.com but on KLM metal and as a GM was able to select EC seats for FREE. Both Delta.com and KLM.com show me confirmed in EC without charge.

I am just scared that come time to check-in the system will bump me out of EC and all that will be left might be back middle seats

Could all this EC integration confusion be causing GM and higher to have free access to EC on international flights?

IME, if the KL flights show the EC seats on the KL website and the DL flights show EC on DL.com, there won't be any problem. However, what shows for KL flights on DL.COM is often not the same as what KL.com is showing.

I think the OP might be worried because he/she has heard that DL Golds do not get AF PV seats for free. AF and KL have totally different systems and rules for their enhanced economy areas.

I just flew JFK-AMS on Thursday. I called the DM line on the 11th and they reserved an EC seat for me on the KL operated flight. When I got to the counter, I was given a middle coach seat, 35G or something, and so I showed them the print out from KLM's site and was told there was a 'schedule change.' Turns out they might have swapped different 777s for the trip, and so all those initial assignments were scrapped. I got a bulkhead seat in JFK for bringing up the issue, but this is a systemic problem between DL and KL that just seems to get worse.

Here is what I am thinking happened:

When I booked the flight on Delta.com, the seat map for KLM 777 plane from JFK-AMS showed all Economy Comfort as blue preferred seats..not economy comfort seats, so I was able to select them for free as a GM...perhaps Delta thinks KLM EC seats are just "preferred seats" available for free to all medallions?

I am still worried I will be booted from the seat at the airport..

This just gets crazier every day. I first called Delta and they said everything is fine and the seats are what I wanted and all paid for (even though I didn't pay for the KL EC seats). I called the KLM service centre and the lady there blamed everything on Delta She insisted Delta messed up my entire reservation and because of that it wont allow them to process a payment for the KL EC seats. Then I called the KL/DL/AF telephone reservations number and spoke to 2 supervisors who insisted that everything I see on DL.com and KL.com is all wrong information regarding Economy Comfort Seats. They said anybody who has Skyteam Elite + and some Alaska members are given Economy Comfort Seats for FREE on BOTH Delta and KLM. Because of their crazy discovery, they went ahead and refunded me the payments I made for the Delta EC seats. (I didn't ask them to do this ) They assigned me EC on both my DL and KL flights and now I haven't paid anything at all. They claim to have written a lengthy note on my reservation that they will be able to see at the airport. Nowhere does it say GM get free EC on Delta or KLM. Any ideas what I should do?

Say your prayers tonight, and find the agent who's smiling when you check-in. Hope that you just got the good end of the mistake stick.

Please remember "seat assignments are not guaranteed"

Thanks for choosing Delta!

I called Delta again about my similar situation with booking EC for free on KLM metal...they said that they are still having a alot of IT issues linking the two websites and thats likely why we were able to book EC for free as GMs...she also said my EC seats were confirmed from the KLM side and not to worry..
