Rookie question on Fare Rules/Adding Segments

All - Apologize for the rookie question, but here goes: I need to travel WAS to ATL frequently for work. Am I able to add additional segments for the same price (Memphis, Detroit, etc)? Thank you!

Check the routing rules for the specific fare rules and fare buckets (Y, B, M...) you're willing to buy. From the Trip Summary screen, click on the hyperlink View Change and Cancellation Policies, View Full Fare Rules. Routing info is typically at the bottom.

I think some clarification may help... do you mean add a stopover for a day or route through MEM or DTW? I assume you mean to do this when you purchase and not after. Any particular airport in the area or are DCA/BWI/IAD all ok?

If the routing is valid for a destination then you can, but you may have trouble finding it without breaking the fares.

Correct, just route through MEM or DTW to eek out some more miles. As for airports, I typically depart from BWI.

Try using the multiple cities feature on Delta.dumb to force the connection and note that some times it can be cost effective.

Also, be sure that the flight number changes.... otherwise, you won't get as many miles/segments as you though you were going to get.

Most WAS-ATL fares require non-stop/direct routings.

Yeah was just going to post that... most of the good fares for ATL-was area require direct. If you choose a connection the fare can double. However, keep an eye on it since its worth a shot at getting the extra segment/miles. Just don't be surprised if the connection drives the price way up sometimes. Really depends on how far in advance you book and fare pricing/availability.

OP, first if you have EF use it (or expedia) to pull fare rules and see what kind of routing rules DL has on this route.

Then use Matrix ITA to your advantage by using language like "dl dl+" to add more segments.
