New Website for International Terminal information

I have updated the original post, but thought it might be helpful to include the information here also. Some of the questions are answered on the new terminal website, and it is likely that new information/updates will be provided as we get closer to the opening date.

For the latest updates be sure to visit the new website for the Maynard Jackson International Terminal

Here you can get the latest information:

Thanks for the links. One thing that strikes me as odd is that arrivals from preclearance countries (i.e. Canada) will have to claim luggage at F. I guess this makes sense because you would have checked in at F on the outbound. But you may land in A,B,C.... but have to take the train all the way to F.

5. Precleared: These passengers are arriving from or traveling to countries that participate in the U.S. precleared travel program.

* Precleared passengers staying in Atlanta will pick up checked luggage at the international baggage carousel at the international terminal.
* For more information about preclearance locations, click here.

Hopefully we will be able to post some additional photographs in this thread.

This is a shot of the glass corridor that arriving passengers will take from the Jetway to the Escalator down to CBP. Note the great views of Concourse E.

Another angle view of the Shops/Food Court area on Concourse F

Looking north at the International Atrium (just past security)

A view of the south side of the main terminal building from the ramp:

A ramp and inside the terminal view of Gate F9. This gate has the longest Jetway/Walkway measuring the length of a football field.

The next group of shots are NOT from the International Terminal, but some interesting shots from the Atlanta airport:

Great view of the downtown Atlanta Skyline for the ATL airport

Good shot of the Atlanta tower:

Great view of the Delta Tails:

Question

Did anyone notice at beginning of the video when they show the airplanes at the gates, there seems to be a big drop (different level) and space seems tight. Could an aiplane potentially fall there?

Update

Yesterday I had the opportunity to once again tour the New International Terminal and Concourse F at the Atlanta Airport. The construction is coming along well, and the new facility is currently is on track to open in May 2012.

I thought you might enjoy seeing some updated pictures:

The Lobby of the International Terminal:

The south end of Concourse F. Note: The facility is LEED-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and the entire concourse has enough natural light that it could operate without the lights during the daytime:

Sky lights located in the ceiling:

Shops will be located in the lower level and the food court will be on the upper level:

International Atrium looking South:

Just past Security – International Atrium (note: the area behind the black plastic on the upper level is the north entrance to the new and what will be the largest Sky Club in Atlanta).

Entrance to Security area from Lobby:

Thank you for the excellent photos.

I really like the excellent ramp view available from the landside area of the concourse:

The design of Concourse F makes lit look like there isn't a long walk to immigration as is typical in other American airports. They had to fix this design flaw somehow!

That would be the perfect gate for BA. The flight would go from one mile long jetway at T5 to another one at Concouse F.
