I'm 99% sure its 3 x on top of the 1 1/2 times you would have ordinarily earned. Still, not worth if if you have to fly a positioning flight down to RDU.

Confirmed with Delta

Lets make this 100% positive. I confirmed with Delta (via @DeltaAssist) this is triple MQM miles in addition to what you normally earn.

Yup! The way @DeltaAssist said it.. "Not to be confusing. I spoke with Gold medallion desk; they're saying you'll get miles on top of 150%."

I just looked, an F ticket is about $450.

Let me see if I get this right. RDU-BOS is about 600 miles. Bonus for F makes it 900. Round trip makes that 1800.

Now do you get triple of the 1800, or triple the 1200? If triple of the 1800 (3x1800 = 5400) then you 7200 MQMs. If it is just triple of the 1200 (3x1200=3600) then you get the 1800+3600 which is 5400 MQMs

Either way, that is pretty darn good for those who can make it work.

I was planning to go to BOS. Now I have to see how much extra it will be to get me on a separate ticket to RDU.

"on top of 150%" is not the same as "3x150%". Just sayin'...

I can see a third option: you get 3x1200 = 3600 MQM...

This is how DL did the "3x MQM" deal last year for F, with it being 3x the base number of miles (which, in reality is 2xMQM, since F already gets the 50% bonus).

I'm not sure I'm right in this, but history is on my side .

For the amount of money you will spend for the positioning flight and the F ticket, it would be cheaper to take a transcon to get about the same, if not more MQM's. All in all, not a very good deal.

Yes. LAX to BOS in Y (lowest fare is T for the date I need to go) is about $300 and will earn me about 2750 each way for about 5500 MQMs total. So yeah, that is a better deal.

To position LAX to RDU first is also the same price (apx $300) and will earn about 2230 MQMs each way. Close to the same and no additional cost.

So the question then becomes if one needs the additional miles, whether it is worth it to pay the $450 and tack on the addition 3600 to 7200 miles. If you truly get 7200 MQMs total, it seems like an attractive proposition. 6.25 cents per MQM. But I'm not sure if that is what one actually earns.

It sort of is

612 miles base RDU - BOS.
612 x %150 = 918

So 3 x %150 is 3 x 918 = 2754

OR

3 x MQM on top of the 150%
(612 x 3) + 918 = 2754
