Out of DTW, DL has the following nonstop service to asia:
DTW-NRT daily
DTW-HND daily
DTW-NGO daily
DTW-PVG 5x weekly
DTW-PEK 5x weekly
DTW-HKG daily
As of now, ATL has: daily service to NRT, and 3x weekly to PVG.
There used to be a DTW-KIX but now it's moved to SEA, which gives SEA three nonstop routes: SEA-PEK/NRT/KIX.
LAX has a nonstop to both HND and NRT. All other delta US cities only have one nonstop to NRT.
There are a lot more then you thought.

Flight time? 16:45.
Thank GOD the flight was still on a 777 in those halcyon days . . .PTVs came in mighty handy.

I like SEA as an airport but the ICE facilities are small and dire - along with the rest of the satellite terminal where DL operates. Not sure how much more traffic they can handle.

What ever happened to bring back the JFK to BOM or ATl to BOM route back? If other such as Ai and CO is profitable, why not DL? It's been years and I miss this flight

It isn't close to geographically perfect. To most of Asia, it is still really far. Closer than ATL, but not by much. Better, yes. Best of the major hubs? Sure. But not geographically perfect by a long shot. To Europe, any hub that lies west of NYC and the rest of the big East Coast markets is second tier. The lack of TATL network ex-DTW attests to this.

DL's DTW network
NRT-daily 744
PEK-daily 77L
PVG-4x weekly 77L
HKG-4x weekly 77L
NGO-5x weekly 744
ICN-1x weekly 777 3x weekly 77L
All except HKG and PEK (both 5x weekly) are loaded to go daily this summer. Also they start HND on a 332 this summer.
Also
SEA-NRT 1x daily 333
SEA-KIX 1x daily 76L
SEA-PEK 1x daily 76L
ATL-NRT 1x daily 77L
ATL-PVG 2x weekly 777
LAX-NRT 1x daily 332
LAX-HND 1x daily 332
LAX-SYD 1x daily 77L
I expect DTW-HKG to end up loaded back to daily this year for the summer. (likely just to wait for to be able to put PR spin on it in NOV with the rest of the new routes) Also wouldn't be shocked to see DTW-PEK go daily and PVG to get a 747 upgrade again.
