PM switched to a middle seat: How does that happen?

I just checked my reservation for a JFK-TLV flight in October and my seat was changed from an exit row to a middle seat in the back of the plane. Luckily, there was an aisle seat available in the first row in coach and I switched my seat.

I thought that since I'm PM, I could count on
-having my seat choice be honored
-not being placed in a middle seat when other seats are available
-getting an e mail from delta when my reservation is changed

Do I have to keep checking on my seat? Is there any way to avoid a last minute surprise?

thanks for your suggestions

1) Yes
2) No

Welcome to DL

It's funny how before the systems were integrated no one liked NW's policy of only assigning seat assignments at 90days but it pervented stuff like this which happens all the time due to equipment changes, flight number changes, weather in ATL, and Richard's mood on a specific day

OP, you would find many other threads with the same story which explains why I am one who checks international trips every Saturday and depend on PageOnce to catch anything I miss.

I think that was one of the best policies and really wish it stuck around. Now one needs to constantly babysit reservations to make sure everything is OK.

It is kind of strange because I assume this is not an equipment change.

If the schedule changes by 5 minutes you might lose your seat. It's annoying but it happens all the time.

I check my reservations twice a week or even more, especially if I have a RJ leg since those tend to be changed more often than mainline equipment.

In the past, when I've gotten stuck in a middle seat, DL has given me a few miles to "make up" for it. Not that this is adequate compensation in the least, but I'm just curious if they still do that. Anyone know?

Just got it last week- "middle seat mondays." Wound up in 11E for an hour.

I've had it happen due to equipment/schedule change. Fortunately, it's only been on one occasion I actually ended up in the middle seat!

Now it seems like seat choices always get perverted.

I had a funny experience. Traveling with S.O., I am elite+, S.O. isn't. Got him seated next to me in an exit thanks to a courteous helpdesk operator.

I got swapped out of my seat to the back of the plane. He didn't. Luckily I also check my assignments constantly... but don't tell me it was equipment change (it wasn't)... it just HAPPENS.

Thanks

The seat change occurred after the departure time of one leg of my itinerary was changed by 15 minutes.

Thanks for the heads up on Pageonce. I'll check it out
